Red Snake (Oaxaca '79 x Colombian Punto Rojo)

Three weeks have passed since the 12/12 flip, so the stretch has just stopped and the party starts now.

There are a total of 9 females but they look quite the same at this point. They are quite tall and not that branchy as the last seeds I grew. There are some even taller, these three plants in the pic were just the easiest to take out the tent.

How many time was the stretch? How tall were the plants when you started flowering? What light schedule? 11/13?

The answer is a couple posts before that one, look at the pic when I put them into flower (December 18th). They are in the same pots and look about double in size.

I use 12/12 for these sativas.

I like their explossive long hair at 5th week 12/12. They look like very rigid canes, quite columnar and fucking tall. Some are 150 cm tall including the pot, and some of them have started to exudate resin.

They are going to need their time to be ready.

Looking nice! How is Cannabiogen release compared to your own Red Snake in terms of flowering, structure, vigor, etc?

Well, this cross was developed by people around CBG, so I guess the seeds I got are the same they are selling now. Anyway it is a little early to compare.

I've just discarded a plant that after 6 weeks was just starting throwing flowers. Too extreme for my tastes, and very very tall. A beauty, really, but there are other plants that seem to be doing better and shine with beautiful long sativa buds covered in crystal.

I'll post pictures soon. Pity I forgot before cutting that one.

There they are at 6 weeks. There is some variation but most of them show their authentic sativa origin: long sativa buds full of enormous trichomes that shine under the camera flash. These big resin glands come probably from the Oaxaca '79, landrace sativas have very little ones normally.

The fastest ones will be ready in about 10 weeks, I suppose.

These are the ones I prefer at the moment. 7 weeks. You can make an image on them, most of them are very tall, and very resinous, and have enormous calyxes. Buds are beautifully long clusters of flowers, and some are growing in a ridiculous way.

Look at the canes in the background as well:

There is also a compact pheno that I want to keep.

Some of the plants look very good and they start to mature. 9-10 weeks for the fastest, I believe. This one is enormous, 150 cm in just a 3 liter pot, but the shape of the buds and the structure of the plant recalls a sativa from the past. Very nice colas, and a great lot of resin.

In the right there is a tall Bangi Haze Ethiopian from ACE to compare.

Now I'm centered in the half a dozen of different plants that mature faster and produce more resin to select a keeper between them, but I'll have to wait after harvest and curing for that.

Enjoy your smokes.

I've taken some pictures of the compact plant. It is quite different to the others, that are all of them very tall, but the flower bunches and the resin coverage are similar. I will harvest the first ones, including this one, at 9 weeks. They are in their 8th week.

I can notice quite a lot of differences in bud structure. Some are globular, other are foxtaily, some are very light and soft and others are quite compact in comparison.

IMGP5496.JPGIMGP5497.JPGIMGP5500.JPG

These slender ones are the prettiest of all. Too big for an indoor.

IMGP5501.JPGIMGP5502.JPGIMGP5504.JPG

Generally aesthetic buds with little trim work. And a lot of resin in all of the plants.

Finally I kept 2 specimens because I still have doubts about which one is the best. These two have a very nice intense smell. I'm flowering them again to make a better comparative, I'll be uploading pictures and a smoke report.

This is the most compact clone I keep two days short of 7 weeks 12/12.

These branch a lot and have red stems.

Good looking plants. Hoping they smoke trippy for you or otherwise good.
There is no "trippy" weed anymore for seasoned smokers like me, unfortunately. But this weed feels good in the mornings and I've selected the most aromatic ones. The smell it leaves in the room is magic. Nice for gardening and doing things, people that was gifted some cured weed from the discarded Red Snake cuts said they liked it a lot for the effect.
