Got A Bird Feeder?

The swing of the seasons.

Plants get chopped, feeders are soon to be hung.

Stoned or not, the feeders are fun to watch. Amazement and awe often accompany my mirth.
When the finches and chickadees show up it is just crazy bee hive of activity.
I have (not really MINE) a squirrel that sits in the tray maniacally chewing until being dive bombed into retreat.

In Nova Scotia, I get chickadees, starlings, sparrows. woodpeckers, blue jays, mourning doves, pigeons, golden finches, juncos and a resident cardinal pair.

An our ago.

I looked up western tanager, very cool. Methinks we are in different locals.
My squirrel is a loner. It lost its mate to one of the condos rat traps. It defends the tray until it gets bombed both front and back.
I am sure I have fat happy rodents under my deck.
I throw kibbles on the ground for the crows. My cat died a few months back and so they are getting her dry food. They are always interested in what I do outside and follow me around.

Nice. Looks to be a busy place. The jays are kind of bullies, but I guess everyone needs to eat lol. We have similiar birds, the coolest birds we've seen were hoary redpolls that migrated through our area in January almost 10 years ago. Have not seen them since. Cool looking little birds, they were going wild on some birch seeds right out our window.
I like crows, they are like gangster birds.
Man, crows are noisy lol. The cool thing about crows is how they'll chase eagles away from either the crows nest, or food source. Ive watched many times as a crow will tail an eagle, then break off for another crow to spell them. Taking turns driving the eagle further and further away. Yes, I respect crows, but I'd love to see one get taken out midflight by an eagle:fire:

Nice. I had tamed one of the squirrels to come on command and hand feed but a raccoon or something ate it one night.

So I heat my bong up again a wander upstairs. Thinking about playing video games or maybe brushing my teeth. Crazy busy sunday :hump:.

Got a feeder full o finches.IMG_0292.JPG The bushes are full of those waiting.

I notice Heckle and Jeckle (my crows)IMG_0276.JPG so I step out for a shot.

I see the squirrel (unnamed) sitting beside the crow on the fence(never saw that before). It ran before I got a pic.IMG_0278.JPG

LOL, it pops up here beside me. Its rather tame as well. IMG_0281.JPG Lots of racoons here too. I would be sad to lose this little guy.

I know Im lightly toasted but it all makes me feel like Dr Doolittle.

Hoary redpoles. Very cool. My cardinals (Carl and Carlita) have been returning last four years. My sister lives further away from the city and her neighbor has hawks taking pigeons and doves from his feeder.
We get ospreys every year on the tops of poles here. I have seen them go with rabbits and take fish too big to fly with. It would get over the trees and back down. We should all have such problems.
I see lots of eagles on the way to the valley from my place. They are HUGE! I would love to see them hunt something or go flying off with a cow or something.

Squirrels hang upside down and eat most of the bird seed, two bird feeders. Two blue spruce trees in the front yard.

Here in the NE, usa......mostly finches, cardinals and squirrels feeding......Im on the edges of a small city.......30 minutes from the Adirondacks

We have 5 feeders. 2 humming bird feeders, 2 others filled 1 with nyjer the other a no waste feeder. Feed the crows, jay birds and pigeons daily peanuts and assorted dog treats, hot dogs and chicken scraps. Pigeons attract our Cooper hawks which I guess means we feed them as well! Nothing like seeing a hawk attack a pigeon and then literally sit on the pigeon till it suffocates. Nature can be a cruel place but not nearly as cruel as the way humans can behave. Ps PLEASE Spade or neuter your cats, the world's ecosystem is already screwed up it doesn't need anymore help from wandering feline predators..

Every year, I put up with several neighbors cats digging up my flower garden and shitting in it. I went out yesterday morning to find a pile of red feathers and my rail lantern knocked off the deck. I cant believe people still let their cats outdoors. Selfish mother fuckers need a kick in the ass. I couldnt kill someones cat, its not the cats fault. I wont lie though...I often fantasize about using the cat to beat the owners into a coma. I have always owned cats and would never let them out.

Heh heh @farmingfisherman . Love the feeders. And my humming bird feeders are worth fighting over. Over several years I have become very selective about feeds and when to put them out. Too many nuisance and destructive varieties here. Bad in winter. And the ghetto thugs we call tree rats or squirrels. Grow sunflowers and thistles in your yard. The song birds, cardinals and mourning doves will congregate. A cup of grain seed on the garage roof will draw the doves. And straight suet for the wood peckers. Enjoy. Great relaxation watching.

The squirrels this year are pretty chill. I have been taming them again kinda like peter piper. They stay out my feeders now but clean up the waste the finches make on the ground.

I did hang a big feeder in front of the bay window. We can watch from inside now comfortable like. I got the whole family into watching and taming.

However we ain't really enjoying the family of big azz racoons that moved into the storm drains down the street.
