Looking for a quick answer on LED light

You can get the same quality of light from either. They are just different form factors to achieve the same goal.
boards are nice for simplicity and ease of use, cobs will give you more options to customize and position every light exactly how you want it. Both can be really good or complete ass.

if they are legit samsung 301s and meanwell drivers, those seem like they would be a decent option. They probably arent as well binned diodes, but should work fairly well.

A lot of people forget. Meanwell is a Chinese company. Their headquarters is in Taiwan and their main locations are in mainland china.
IKR LOL! Everyone thinks everything that's made in China is crap. Everyone loves heir smart phones and tablets though LOL!

I don't think everything made in China is crap. However a lot of the knockoff QB boards are, and there are lots of examples of people getting knockoff Meanwell drivers in their DIY kits from some of these websites. Not saying that SF is one of them, I know nothing about them.

The point I was making also is more about buying from a Chinese retailer online. If you need warranty service on something, you need to consider the cost of shipping it back to China. If I buy the same Meanwell driver from a US retailer, then I can ship it back to them or have them handle the warranty claim. I also prefer to support US companies when I can, since that is where I live, even if it means paying a little more, and especially when they are the ones who created this whole QB board craze.

Peace

I understand about the drivers, you can buy those from mouser or digikey for pretty comparable prices when you consider shipping. Which is another reason why I encourage diy either way.
I just went with convenience of getting them all from one place. Things I've had break down typically do it after the warranty period. Meanwell handles direct RMAs through a 3rd party European company, it's not terrible to ship a few pounds overseas if its needed.

After more looking around, I'm considering either 4 x Spider Farmer SF-1000's (one over each plant), or a single SF-4000. They are getting some good reviews. They seem to be equivalent to the HLGs.

How do Quantum Boards compare to COB LEDs?
After using both, I'd say the quantum boards spread the light out more evenly. Cobs are also great though, hot spots are possible if you don't ROTATE your plants inside the tent though.

This possible with led, hid?
Cobs, its many diodes concentrated in each light....instead of 1000+ diodes spread out (Quantum board) evenly.

If you buy a Cob fixture or an HLG light, or build your own quantum board you will have a nice setup. Can't go wrong either way. Ive never done electrical work so I opted to buy ready made lights.

Looks like if I want a good LED light, I'm going to have to pony-up the money. Once again, you get what you pay for. I've given up on the idea of building my COB LED array. I've got other stuff to do.

So here are the three I'm going to choose from...
Rapid LED CXB3590 4' X 4' LED Grow Kit - 12 x Cree COB LED array ($764)

Amare SolarECLIPSE SE 500 - 6 x COB LED combo ($1075)

HLG 550 V2 R Spec - Sammy LEDs ($849)

I'll be using whichever one I get in a 4x4 tent. I may get two of the half-sized versions, instead of the single large one, so I can spread them apart.
Opinions?

Just to add I love my bridgelux GEN 2 strip. Max is 480w so perfect for a 4x4 but you can also build bigger for a 5x5

Your much better off with With alibaba boards, like Meijiju or King Bright. Shit they even have the spider farmer light for have the price.

Imo 480 watts is not enough for a 4x4. If you do go HLG I would order straight from them though.
