Yea I doubt it was the flash from taking too many pics.drying out too much too often sounds like more of a stressors that could cause it, I think
So do you think I did the right thing by keeping the lights off for today and will restart the schedule tomorrow or do you think that was unnecessary? That's what I read to do, but it now sounds like the writer didnt know what they were talking about. Edit...if i had just left the lights on as usual, they would have been on for like 36 hours straight or somethingOh come on. Calm down. Set the timer correctly and move on. Why would you chop that plant and not let it finish? This is just getting silly. By the time any highly improbable hermaphroditism could occur from a couple days of extra light those plants will be ready to harvest and no viable pollen will have even been produced.
This is just getting out of hand the way all this cannabis broscience has tainted the simple task of growing marijuana. People talking about chopping perfectly good plants weeks early for no reason.
I think it's fine , either way just once or twice. Sorry if u weren't asking me . Hope this helpsSo do you think I did the right thing by keeping the lights off for today and will restart the schedule tomorrow or do you think that was unnecessary? Who the fuck are you to answer? Haha jk. ThanksI think it's fine , either way just once or twice. Sorry if u weren't asking me . Hope this helps
Lol I'm new so I wasn't sure that was funnyWho the fuck are you to answer? Haha jk. Thanks
imo it comes down to this.So do you think I did the right thing by keeping the lights off for today and will restart the schedule tomorrow or do you think that was unnecessary? I was just being sarcastic. I didnt care if you answered before him or notLol I'm new so I wasn't sure that was funny
I have never looked into it but if I am wrong oh well Ive been wrong before...............................................I was just being sarcastic. I didnt care if you answered before him or not
Really? What strains did they cross? Just curious because I've heard some people think you can skip stabilization if you use stable parent strains. I've been looking into how seeds are bred, and you would be surprised to read some of the misinformation floating around out there. If you think some of the bro science here is bad...Only hermy I've had was a new top of the line cross and I swear it was from the pics I was taking
I appreciate you taking the time to try to help with my question, but what makes you "think" that? Gotta back up things like that with proof bc this is RIU ha. You may confuse new growers with weird ideasI have never looked into it but if I am wrong oh well Ive been wrong before...............................................
Your female plant doesn't make pollen and then pollinate itself with that pollen. I dont think it works like that.
So imo it isnt necessary to fret about cleaning the room because of pollen.
there you go maybe I was wrong i guess..... if jorge says so.I appreciate you taking the time to try to help with my question, but what makes you "think" that? Gotta back up things like that with proof bc this is RIU ha. You may confuse new growers with weird ideas
Anyway..... this is from Jorge Cervantes grow bible
And you could spend the rest of your life and another one correcting all the misinformation here on RIU.I appreciate you taking the time to try to help with my question, but what makes you "think" that? Thanks for the reply. What I've taken from all of this is that they might grow some bananas but it will take them longer to pollinate than it will for the plant to ripen. I'll flower this strain for about 70 - 80 days, so it has about a month left. Curious if you know how long it would take from the sight of bananas to pollination. And I'm not really overthinking things, but I was certainly overly worried when I discovered my little mistake ha. I mean, I see people all the time on here, very worried when they interrupted their dark cycle for less than an hour, so I was certain I would have a hermied plant after 24 hours of interrupted dark cycle. But you all have reassured me that everything is cool. So thank you for that peace of mindImvho, you're over thinking it man.
Those plants are so close, that "if" it happens at all, it'll be ripe for the picking before anything else happens and you can pluck them off
Imo if you don't get any within the next week or two, it likely won't make much difference if at all. Thanks for the reply. Sounds like all good news to me. Btw, it's just one plant that's flowering right now. With my perpetual setup, and with things being so close to each other, I wasnt sure if pollen would spread and effect the current vegging plants or not. Sounds like I probably wont have to worry about any pollen . If I do, it will be much later on. For some reason I was thinking the pollen released quickly after the bananas formed.Imo if you don't get any within the next week or two, it likely won't make much difference if at all.
In any event, you can pick them all off if it's just a few. Any seed would be very minimal and likely very immature if any at all.
If they're from seed and not cuts, it'll likely only be a single plant if it does.
If they're cuts or a single plant, you'll just have to accept it if happens and be vigilant.
What I'm trying to say is if you get any, they were more than likely gonna form anyway. Interrupted light cycle really doesn't come into play imo, it's purely genetic.
Everyone gets them and some varieties/strains/chucks of seed, get more than others, it's just life.
Two scenarios I wouldn't personally keep a hermaphrodite around,
- If I was growing for seed, because I ideally want non hermaphrodite pollen and seed.
- If I had several or many plants and wanted seedless.
But this is where it comes down to personal choice and the individual plant itself.
For myself I pick them off if the plant's close enough, it's all good smoko. If there's many balls / bananas, I personally couldn't be bothered and just harvest early.
It's really grower's choice. Everyone has their own opinion and every grow varies.
Fantastic looking plant(s)!
You're doing everything that's within your control already.
Don't sweat it.
