Why are you misting them? If you have gnats I'd sprinkle some DE around on top of your plant and put some yellow sticky traps.

Mostly because I replanted them into much bigger pots like 2 weeks ago, I didn't realize that much time has passed, but it has become a habit as I want to think its good for them while the root system reestablishes itself in the new environment. I probably don't need to do that anymore :/

Do you think it's safe to keep both plants and continue the fight vs the gnats or better to get rid of the infested one barely growing ? :/

Ok so here is an update and now I'm starting to get really worried. I have done everything, transplanted again, barely watered the plants at all, kept a fan blowing on them, set up yellow sticky papers all around, but the gnats just won't dissappear. One of the plants is just fine and rarely I see any gnat moving around. The other one (you can clearly see which is which) is infested, with 4-5 gnats crawling on the surface of the perlites at any given time .... I am considering to get rid of that plant completely, it's barely growing at all, and focus on the healthy one as I'm afraid the gnats will spread....taking the available space, I don't think that two plants would give a better yield than only the one. Please give me your opinions on this, I'm so tired of struggling with something that should be easy....

(The plants are a bit wet on the picture as I just sprayed them with some water, something I do daily. Nowhere near enough to make the soil wet, just a mist of water over the plants)

Based on this picture I don't see any sticky traps? Put them in the pot where you see the insects crawling around or they won't do much good.

DE = Diatomaceous Earth, it will kill most insects on contact by drying them out, a light dusting over the top of your pots should help. Misting them constantly + overwet soil is probably why they are multiplying.

np, once you get the feeding/watering under control I bet that girl takes off a bit better. Did you see any bugs stuck to the traps? gnats are annoying but not the end of the world. The bigger girl on the right is showing some light yellow tips on the new growth and some browning it looks like. Might be the soil if you aren't using nutrients.

Yeah that's another one of my concerns, I kind of "double FIM-ed" it as I thought I had failed at first. The result is a bit crazy and I was assuming what you are describing was simply a result from a bunch of new leaves growing into each other and getting damaged that way. Not sure what to do about that, here is a close up:

Amount of gnats on the trap is about 50-100 I'd say (moved one now and put in the pot)

ahh I see the issue with the sticky traps, you have the wrong kind. Those are for flying insects and hung around doors etc, the ones you want look like this:




and you'd just lay them flat on top of the perlite.


Honestly though I bet they work the same? Probably make a bit of a mess but I'd leave em and see if they work before you spend anything more.

Yeah, I was looking for the kind you are posting, in a huuuuge gardening store, but what I got was the only thing they had to offer anywhere close to what I really wanted

Local maybe. The dunks are usually available at any garden store - home depot, etc.
Put them whole in your water. And crush them up and top dress pots. Water passing thru washes the bacterial into your soil.

nah, gnats won't kill the one in the back and it isn't showing the same deficiencies as the larger. I'd keep both until you have em harvested and smoked! My "runt" turned out to be the thickest frostiest girls, the others were all 'legs' and stems.
