If you have some extra room and want to experiment a little start two of the same plants and try this about midway through (if you don’t have seeds I have plenty).

Leave all the big fan leaves on plant A. Now take a styrofoam cup and cover all the bud sites.

Now take plant B and cut all the big fan leaves off and leave the bud sites alone.

Let them grow together and weigh both harvests.

It’s a little extreme but gets the point across.

Well that was dumb. You could just cut all the fan leaves off one plant and compare them both down the road. Anyway, as long as you don't start cutting bud leaves, and you don't go crazy, snipping fan leaves here and there does not affect anything.

Autos can be defol for better penetration as this thread asks ... I pull all larf points and lower leaf plus LST .
The basic workings of an auto are the same except for it’s condensed lifespan. As long as plant is healthy and structuring right , there is no harm. You can even top them. Guess what ? .... they live.

Just pull your light back if your plants are too dense, the plant can move and angle its leaves on its own for mostly ideal uptake. They can and will defoliate themselfs so dont rush them, just help with a couple little tucks or a pony tail if you have to.

Yes the sun moves, plants can move too. If the sun was too close youd have the same problem with too dense of a bush and you might lower the intensity to get bigger fuller growth.

Looks good. I get about the same yield without topping or defoliating. I harvest the larger branch's up top and then give the rest of the plant 10 days to catch up.

I've heard you mention a few times now about progressive harvesting where you take the top branches off and then let the other buds catch up. Do you flush before harvesting the top branches and then feed again after removing the larger branches? About how many branches do you remove?
