Thanks, good site!

“As a general rule, exposure to 5000ppm (or more) of CO2 is potentially hazardous to your health. This figure is based on eight hours, or more, of exposure."

@Roger A. Shrubber
I rarely spend 8 hours at a time in my grow room. In fact I never have. lol

A person can always turn of CO2 for the time they plan to be in there too as you would if you were running UV lights. That shit will screw you up good.

Or ozone. Do not spend any time in a room with ozone added unless it feeds directly into a long section of tubing leading to the exhaust fan only when the fan is on. Shit will fry your lungs fast and can damage the stomata on your plant's leaves. Makes little brown spots all over the leaf surface and looks like mite feeding. It's an oxidizer like peroxide or bleach and burns organic tissue like lungs.

Just quoted because that roger guy made it seem like 1500ppm for 15 minutes would fry your brain cells hahaha

well, you aren't in any danger then, you have nothing to fry....use my name again....dumbass
i try to let people know about a possible health hazard and you make fun of me for it?
go ahead and do what the fuck ever you want, i won't ever warn you of a god damn thing...stick your finger in the socket, touch the stove....fucking idiot

I respect everyone on this board but fuck you man.

I never once made fun of you or your info but no data supports 1200-1500 ppm being harmful unless you’re literally living in it

Stumbled on this very long page of CO2 info and it's pure gold. Goes into all aspects of how it's done right and the reasons for each step.
Lots of citations to back up the info presented.

Way too long to post it here.

CO2 Enriched Hydroponic Growing

Well worth the read.

OldMedUser, yeah, that’s the one I posted on the indoor grow section after reading all the questions being asked in the co2 calc thread . it’s quite comprehensive and fairly on point. There’s a few points like filtration recs, CO2 redistribution, and cooled hoods that could use additional info or tweaking, and nothing about CO2 overshoot and how to deal with it when using CO2 sensors, however overall it’s very good and well written.

It’s always best practice to have a CO2 reading display outside your sealed room, and an over set indicator/alarm. Also good when shooting high levels to have something like a reed switch on the door so when it’s opened the exhaust fans switch on before entering. Also a fail safe that if CO2 levels reach a certain PPM, say like 1900 as an example the exhaust fans turn on until a lower set point is reached.
Things can fail, like a solenoid valve for example.

If you ever spend time in a smaller sealed room many would be surprised how quickly the level rises just from breathing when working in there. Like if I enter a 10x10x8 sealed room n levels are relatively low in veg like 700ppm, within 30mins they can be heading north of 1900.

These are some examples why i cringe when a newish grower wants to dive straight in and get a bottle of CO2.

You sure seem to like to stir the pot. Why drag good ol' Roger into another thread? Just to poke the caged bear with a stick and turn another thread into a f'n flame war.

Was staying away from this place just because of crap like this and think I'll just go back to decent sites where the focus is on helping others and this BS and the people who fling it are warned then banned if they keep it up.

I'm a mod on one new site and ex-Admin of the now defunct Cannabis Culture forums where this kind of BS got dealt with fast.

Fine to debate but when it all ends up in ignorant pissing matches like so many threads here the perpetrators are soon gone.

May all the trolls have a shitty new year! bird.gif

If someone’s opinion is obviously wrong you’re damn right I’ll point it out. This Roger guy has hassled me since day 1 coming back to this site and he can’t handle a little data showing his opinion is wrong isn’t my fault. Cheers have a happy new year

It doesn't take much to get CO2 up there.

A couple of years back I bought a CO2 controller with the idea of getting a bottle for it. I have the solenoid but then found out a large bottle is over $250 to get at first then another $125 for refills. I had bought a bottle at a yard sale on a farm and we were using it to gas roosters and even our old cat that came down with something awful. Turns out the bottles are rented and I probably bought a stolen one or at least one that I'd have to return for free.

Anyway I just plugged the controller in to see how much CO2 I got just working in the room and it was up to 1250 in half an hour or so. Then I tried a candle and in 20 min it was hitting 1500+. My controller just has led lights that indicate ppm. Goes from 1000 to 1500 and blinks if lower or higher. Ultra Simple CO2 controller from GroZone but was still almost $300. Canadian made too.

I made an alcohol lamp with a mason jar that I drilled a hole in the lid and soldered in a short 3/8" piece of copper tubing and pushed a tiki torch wick thru. Made a 2 wick one as well but both got the ppm up over 1500 in a short time so was running up and down the stairs to light and put out the fire every 20 min or so. Then I made one with 3/16" tubing and a cotton shoelace and it can run all day using only 150 - 200ml of methyl hydrate per day and keeps the CO2 up around 1250 easy enough. $10 for a 4L jug so get 20 days use out of a jug. $15/mth and I don't use it all the time.

The author of that article says he doesn't use it during the stretch as it promotes stretch. I don't agree with that as I mostly ScroG and that's a huge growth spurt when the plant can use lots of extra CO2 and extra stretch isn't a problem. I do actual ScroGs where I'm tying down everything that grows up until stretch is over. Not just putting a screen in with colas towering over the screen. That's not a ScroG, just screen supported stems.

It's cool down there so with anything short of a 1000W HPS my exhaust fan may not come on all day so if I have lots of green in there it soon depletes all the ambient CO2 and growths slows to a crawl or stops completely so extra CO2 is needed. The room is only 360 cubic feet and I'm running a 600W hps in there now for one ScroGed plant but will be adding more plants soon.

I think he was just pointing out that deliberately creating drama as first poster in someone elses thread is a troll maneuver.
You got a problem with Roger, take it up with him in DM.
I havent noticed you being troll like otherwise.

Thanks and sorry to OP, but fk Roger.

It’s not my fault he brought hate into this and not logical discussion. And honestly I think this blame should be directed at him.

If that’s how your friends treat people when simply tagged then by all means, carry on. Sides chosen I guess as I see you’ve removed likes from anything you’ve liked of mine previously. Lol
I gave you a like because I figure folks could be just having crap day and anything sets them off
