Anywhere in the light reads light radiation which has sweet fuck all to do with air temps and the reason it is so hot in the first place and the reason your ramping up exhausts and fans to try and cool.
Do some basic science first then google stephenson screen and see how the pros read air at the met office then come back and apply that to your meter.
Too many idiots on this site you will always fail to get the basics but light dosent directly heat air so omit all light indirect or direct as thats what your reading.
Maybe your educated enough and maybe your another renfro who acts it but knows shit here.

I wasn't aware that our plants were living behind a stephenson screen. Pretty sure the infrared light is hitting them too. But hey, lets get out the IR thermometers and test leaf surface temperatures because thats all that matters. smh you can see I am being sarcastic there. it's not all that matters

Hehe I actually have a seek thermal camera. How much difference in temperature do you think there is between the leaf, air temp, and where you throw a thermometer. For led it’s like nil. For hps I actually like to have the thermometer exposed because it is closer to the leaf temp. The whole point of temp is for photosynthesis. I get what you are saying about the difference between air and surface.....but I would argue that trying to read the air is the wrong. I want to get the leaf to about 70 degrees if I can...and I want to account for the ir that is hitting the leaf (so exposed measurement). Even if I was a total screwup and just threw the thermometer in a random spot about canopy level (shaded or otherwise) what do you think the difference in measurements will be assuming a little air movement? (Hint it’s not that huge of a difference) certainly not enough to have that much of a effect on the photosynthesis level you are trying to measure (ie a few degrees of difference = a few degrees off in effiency. 90% vs 86% or 55% vs 53%). I guess I just cant see why you keep harping on this. Technically your correct...but it’s like saying there is a huge difference/impact between 34 and 36 mpg in a car...yea it’s a difference...but really it’s so minor it adds up to nothing over even a year.

It's a prefect combo to some people but like my wife is bi polar 2 and if she drinks it messes with her meds and make her suicidal depression worse like weed doesn't mess with meds it really works with it so it just depends on who you are and what's going on if alcohol is ok for you or not

Ya I'm not saying alcohol is a good thing, but it has a synergistic effect when combined with weed. It is a depressant though, so not the best for someone already depressed. Weed is much less harmful if you ask me, and I hear ya man.

So putting a thermometer in the light is WRONG as your reading light over air temperature. Ask why on a hot day it feels hotter outside in the sun than indoors in the shade yet the air temperature is the same in both.
Please do the science whoch Renfro dosent because he seeks only popularity and probably a product to sell one day.

Then learn the science behind it, leaves absorb heat from the air at 37°c and above and pass heat into the air at all temps below.
Inner leaf temps, stoma crypt temps and boundary gradient will tell you a lot more detail than your point and shoot....
