"Medicare for all who want it"

How is it funded?

What prevents the wealthy/healthy from buying private insurance while the sick/poor utilize public insurance and overburdening the system, eventually resulting in failure?

I think the solution is for even the rich have to go to the same ones the poor do, and only for emergencies, or special treatments like for extreme cancer, can they use private care.

It's not creating second class citizens, it's making the government step up its game so socialized healthcare is equal for all. Just like you praised the UK for.
So if the rich get special treatment for some ailments that the poor don’t, how is that not creating second class citizens

Private insurance in America is the best in the world... if you can afford it. Not so great for those that can't

Everyone who can already afford healthcare will still buy private insurance like they do now. If there is nobody on the other end putting money into the system, how will a program like Buttigieg is offering sustain itself over the long term and provide quality healthcare for poor/sick people?

Unless you go full commie, and not half ass it with socialist bandaids, how do you stop it, Mr. Capitalist shill? Sometimes even if you have communist values, you have to live in the real world, which means compromise.

By making it an opt out tax, if you want that upper tier private insurance, you pay for part of those below you. Sort of the reverse of the Obamacare mandate, where the rich pay to opt out, rather than the poor paying for the privilege of getting no care.

I’m definitely not on board with your proposal to create second class citizens
I'm not either. But how are you going to stop it? The very capitalism you cheerleader for prevents it. Even if you make the procedures illegal, there'll be doctors who do them behind closed doors for those who have enough money.

Btw, you'll NEVER have enough money to ever be in that league, so you don't have to worry about that problem anyway. I'm not going to either, so who cares.

If you’re not for creating second class citizens then why did you just propose it

I'm not wealthy by any measure, but why shouldn't I have the freedom to buy private health insurance if that's what I want and I can afford it? Why do you want to take away my freedom of choice? Why do you think that you can make decisions about my healthcare? Why do you think it's ok to take something I work hard for away from me?

Is that what "progressive" means, taking away people's freedom? Because contrary to your beliefs, that is a huge turn off and you will never sway people in your direction by taking things away from them

What's next, are you going to tell me I can't buy vitamin D whole milk anymore, I can only buy 2% ?

If you want private insurance, then you need to pay into the public one too. It's like how you can have a private retirement fund, but that doesn't exempt you from paying into social security.

And I already do pay into SS, I have a job (unlike you) and pay taxes every single week that I get a paycheck

So tell me why I can't have private insurance if that's what I want to pay for?

I don't say you can't and already stated my vision. Why don't you go after UB who thinks people paying out of their own pockets for special treatments is an affront to humanity and makes him a second class citizen? That's way more extreme than anything I'm suggesting. But you don't say a damn thing about that, and continue to be his tag team partner throwing him likes like candy.

Also what I do for a living to make my Benjamins, is none of your friggin' business and has nothing to do with the topic at hand. :finger:
