Okay so I'm unsure how I missed how bad ass this thing is, and had somehow already posted in this thread. How many moisture sensors can you hook up to it and does it average the sensors together or give a reading for each pot? I really hope that you can hook up mulitple sensors and get separate readings. Also hoping it's not too high tech for me to figure out lol.

Each gw1000 gateway can support up to 8 temp/humidity sensors and 8 moisture sensors. All displayed separately.
You just need to configure the gateway once for your home wifi. Then add sensors by running the app.
You also create an account/login on ecowitt.net. All your sensor data is stored there and available to only you. FREE. No bs monthly cloud costs.

I bought this recently and am having some issues, hoping you might have some insight. The only time I can see live data is when I'm home on the same network. When I log into ecowitt.net I see data that isn't from my environment? Like my sensor in flower should be reading max 40% rh, I'm getting data that's always in the 60's rh. When I'm home the live data reads correct. I've messed with it a bit, gotten frustrated and still in the same place here. You have any ideas?
Wow def getting one of these to play with, how do you keep the light from hitting your sensor and messing up the temp? My cielo breez says it's 100 degrees in my room cause the light shines on it but luckily it doesn't mess with the function of the device it still sets ac where I have it programmed.

Hmmm. Never experienced that yet.
Confirm the latest update at the top of the page for your gw1000. (41 seconds for mine)
Maybe check the device in the pull down.......if needed you could try deleting and re-adding your gw1000.
Keep in mind. The gw1000 needs to communicate with ecowitt.net thru your wifi constantly.

The gw1000 gateway has a lil 1ft cord with a sensor on it. But my gateway is outside my grow room.
The wireless white sensors, I place them.....
Top Net (full light)
Bottom Net (shaded)
At Co2 sensor
Roaming unit I place where needed
Amazingly all this cost no more than dumb temp/rh meters.
Your Breez. I put my Sensibo (same functionality no display) right next to the AC to know its near actual output temp/rh. I adjust my AC settings and scheduling via Sensibo based on what I see in Ecowitt.

Oh ya. Also be sure to run the phone live data app dealio (ws view) occasionally....it updates the firmware in the gw1000 as needed.

I like the idea, just like the sonoffs, and other similar devices. But I think it's probably 'free' the same way google apps/software, for example, are 'free'.

With Sonoffs, is flashing a different software like "tasmota"(?) instead of using the EWElink software going to aid in 'security'/privacy - and how (briefly as you want)?
The TrolMaster's wireless controls uses the "amazon cloud service"... what do you think about that?
I wonder if there is some "agricultural" brand of environmental controls or sensors I've not yet come across. Something that scales down I mean, to a small/medical/hobby/rec etc. size grow (in price and size).
Similarly to how there are "consumer" grade and "commercial" grade products in some industries/areas, where sometimes the only difference is that the "home consumer" doesn't know the commercial grade exists (the price difference may be negligible).

I use mainstream household type devices.
Any software can have backdoor/rogue functionality encoded.
Unlike personal info, environmental data is of no value, should it fall into the wrong hands. In the case of ecowitt, they have their own servers. Are their servers connected to, say google? I assume so. Is my android google collecting info about ecowitt? Yes. After all I had to install the app.

I don't think it's the parameters of the environmental data specifically that one would be concerned with falling into the "wrong hands" (anyone's 'hands' but your own are the wrong ones, by the way. lol), it's that there's data there to collect - being collected, and it happens to be that type of data.
*If* people were concerned with things like smart meters, then basically installing one of these types of household devices in your home would probably not be much better/smarter I guess? I duno. Haha. Rhetorical question I guess.
