Looking for a Padawan

Looking for a Padawan am I

Ok I'm not a Jedi master of growers but I am a solid grower who has taught a handful of growers who have gone on to be very successful and I am confident that I can teach you how to get solid results out of the gate. Now obviously there are dozens of members here who can do the same, and I encourage any of them to put their name out as willing to take on a Padawan. Not a contest, just an idea.

I will teach you from setup through one grow and answer your questions. The style I will teach is called Drain to Waste and it is a form of hydro that I would consider the easiest with yields as good as any style. I will also provide you with a shopping list with prices for everything you are going to need. You will need to do no research. 4 months commitment from both of us.

Any way this is just an idea, not very confident anybody will even take me up on the offer to be honest...but it would be cool if they did.

Very cool idea... Hopefully someone takes advantage

Nobody here took me up on it but a local friend did. He did 80% of what I said, made a few beginner mistakes by not doing 100% of what I told him, did not trust me on the training part, was too scared of cutting of what he thought were future bud sites (anything under the scrog net) and had a very uneven canopy but he hit the pound mark with his first grow. He also sent me a pic of his fingers completely covered with THC because he didn't use gloves like I told him.

I would say not bad for a person's first grow. He's gonna kill it next round with more attention and better training. For those who are curious he ran this in drain to waste at about 700 to 900ppm and aiming for 6.5 pH. He's not the most detailed oriented person so I'm sure he was off a bunch. .IMG_6059.JPG

I wouldn't say that is what a site like this is for, because you are asking open questions for all to answer instead of just picking one voice to listen to. That is what is a little different about the idea. Besides, nobody took me up on it and I don't expect anybody to, it was an idea I had when I was very high. And no, I was not looking for money, although I sometimes think about making a business like "Doctor Green Thumb," kind of like the geek squad. I've actually helped a few senior citizens learn how to grow this past year if you can believe it and we were joking that they needed to call somebody like the geek squad (Home Depot tech support guys who set up routers for senior citizens and such).

Isn't that what this site is for? Or is there other green you are looking for in return?
i think i can answer that, unless he was looking for cash, but i doubt it. I think this was a great idea because you would get one consistent set of guidelines and knowledge to follow other than a bunch of opposing views from equally good growers.

Actually just had a guy start that very business a few towns over.
He will supply the equipment and know-how and, for a fee, work with you seed to harvest. I was alittle jealous listening to the interview.
He charges around 3k for a guaranteed 10oz. Not a bad deal for someone with no experience if they are able to carry on without his assistance afterward.

so if you're longyears experienced to do this craft you can become a business consultant?
If I wanted to sure. The idea of a business to help the personal grower is more interesting though because the market is so much bigger and ideally if you grew it you could hire pros to do the work. If it can’t be grown to thousands of customers it wouldn’t be worth it to me.

What an awesome idea, i would have been so keen if i hadnt started, im forever reading and asking a close friend. This is a newbie comment but would soil be an easier way or is quite alot of people into hydro! Hope you find someone or someone finds you, not often people get that chance

One is no easier then the other and have their own challenges. It’s more about which is good for the you. That being said hydro will outproduce soil for the average grower and that’s why more people do it.
