In soil I've used gnatrol, Nat Nix and yellow sticky cards to monitor the adults. Use the gnatrol as a soil drench and repeat every 7-10 days. I also drenched my containers with gnatrol water before putting seedlings in the pots. While you're waiting for the gnatrol to kill the larvae, suck up any fliers with a shop vac. Wack the pots to get the gnats to fly, then suck them up with the vacuum hose. The ingredient you want is Bacillus thuringiensis (bti).

I have always had gnat problems in my soil and used a dozen different tactics to keep them under control.
Last year I started a worm bin and since top dressing with the fresh EWC from the bin my gnat problem has gone away and the only thing I do is monitor the conditions with sticky traps. I occasionally still see one here or there so if conditions were right they would repopulate but they haven't returned in over 6 months.
I'm still learning but from doing some homework I feel Hypoapsis miles mites have played a large roll.
Never noticed the same benefit from bagged EWC in my case.

There were quite a few in the Wiggle Worm EWC. They also multiplied sitting in the bag in my rec room. There were a ton after months of sitting. I've been using the Build a Soil ones lately though.
yeah man, I cant wait till my wormery starts kicking in, i've heard it'll take a while (like 6 months ) to get some decent compost from, will definitley be using it for nutrient teas until i have enough to topdress. Nice one

Monterey BT should be available in the Uk and is a BTI product like gnatrol or dunks.
In my experience gnatnix did nothing but I also use radicle bags so Essentially the entire pot top, sides and bottom are open to entry for any tiny insect. But I also watched gnats climbing all over the stuff when I used fabric pots too

I am have had the gnat problem since I started using organic soil,the gnats absolutely thrive in it.I have ordered mosquito dunks (hopefully be here soon).I also bought some seeds for a cape sundew am going to try and grow some of them to keep the gnats under control,cape sundews are a carnivorous plant that supposedly very good at killing and eating gnats.Just wondering if anyone has tried them in there cannabis garden?I've read about this plant on a regular gardening site in regards to gnat control and people responded that it works pretty well,it's essentially a live version of the yellow sticky traps

Neem oil and you're done. You could also put some apple cider vinegar into a cup with a dash of liquid soap, cover the top of cup with cling wrap and poke a few holes. Neem oil will kill eggs and larvae. The trap is for adults. I would also lay some yellow sticky traps around the soil. You could also use h202 but if used it can kill bennies.

anyone thinks using landscape fabric on top of the pots top layer of soil would stop the gnats?
they are really annoying me and nothing seems to get rid of them
I have been using mosquito dunks for the past 10 days but they don't seem to be working either
have tried sticky strips,diamscus earth,top dress with 1 inch of perlite,neem oil soil drench foliar with neem oil and also used pytherin spray in veg but i'm in flower now so cant use it(its the only thing that killed them off for a few days) and now I have been using the dunks for 10 days but the gnats still keep coming

I tried everything with varying levels of success, but couldn't totally get rid of the little bastards until I found Stratiolaelaps scimitus - predatory soil mites to control fungus gnats. Added those little mites to my soil and a week or two later it was rare to see even one of them around.
