Apera PH meters- AVOID

I didn’t think you had too ph with soil?
Why wouldn't you? There's always a optimal pH value/range depending on growing method. It's not as important in soil yes. But you have to check soil or runoff pH to know what you're actually doing.

You don't if you have enough microbes buffering the ph for you. I have never adjusted my ph, and I'm in the same soil that's been going for over a year, but I've been doing the organic thing. I still am getting one of the meters Renfro recommended so I know exactly what is going on in there though.

True.. I did get 2 duds back to back from Amazon on the Apera PH8500 series. This 3rd one I got direct from Apera, and it has performed well so far..(like 2 weeks). It holds calibration for the day, and I calibrate every day. If i'm a little suspicious, I'll dip the tip in the 7.0 just to make sure before I test the mix (liquid), or testing soil 24 hours after water/feed. This tool literally saved my crop. 3 weeks into veg, my shit starting going down hill.. I was racking my brain trying to figure out what what going on.. Lights? Nutes?, RH? Temps?.. We got the PH8500 in and poked the soil to find 5.1 ph. We had to compensate in an extreme way that is not for the faint of heart. We mixed at 10.5-11.5 to get it to settle at ~6.4-6.8 .. then we found out how important it really is. This crop made a stupid turn around and is going to be our best crop so far. Even tho @Renfro had a bad experience, he taught me how important it is to know your medium's PH. I truly believe that 90% of peoples problems are PH related. If this unit dies on me, I'll go another route for sure. Pictured is Ethos Orange Kush Cake beginning week 5.

So they fucked me. The tracking number they gave me for my return that they were supposed to be sending back to me is invalid. I already bought a replacement pH probe for it since they fucked me outta the warranty period by stalling. So now I have the 130 dollar probe and no fucking meter.

I was reading reviews on apera on amazon and it seems others have had this same thing happen.

Also my pH meter is a soil pH meter, you can use it for liquids or stick it in a piece of chicken and get a pH.
Which probe are you using for the bluelab? And can this probe be used on their combo meter or guardian in place of the probe that is usually used?
I use this for soil. With the meter of course.
Same question I had for Renfro.

No idea. But if it has a bnc connector and it will callibrate probably. The link is the probe I use. The meter I would have to get the dogs off my lap and go look. I bought the meter 3 or 4 years ago. The probe a year or so.

Apera, PH60S Spear probe, what came on it. The blue lab, the same thing, the probe that came on it.
Oh. So you don't have anything bluelab other than pen style or truncheon? None with the bnc style wired pH probe?

I was just wondering if anyone uses this probe linked above by someone with their blue lab combo/guardian (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077V7SR9J/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), instead of the glass ball junction one that comes with them.

Edit: product description seems to say it can be used like regular glass one for solutions, as well as coco, rockwool, etc.
Hmm.

Right, just the dedicated liquid pen and the soil pen and a truncheon.

Should be just fine, however make sure to store it super clean in the KCL storage solution. Don't ever leave it stuck in the soil or it will leach out the KCL solution and ruin the probe.

Also, with the soil probes be careful inserting them into the soil, it's best to have a tool thats shaped like the probe to stick with then put the probe in the hole.

No doubt.
Just thought, for the future, it seems it's more capable of a probe.

Please keep us updated on the products performance in your grow. We are curious.

I think that one should always have at least 2 reliable pH meters, and I personally wanna have at least two of the soil pens as well. If one goes down or you are trying to confirm a really odd reading then it's invaluable.
