I was looking at the ingredients of a bottle of ClearEx.
You know ... the stuff you use to flush.

It has two ingredients:
99.93 % water.
00.07 % citrus.

Why do I spend $70 a gallon on lemonade?
I tasted it ... it's weak lemonade.
A shot of Jack Daniels and it'll be a pretty good drink.
But, $70 a gallon?
Jack Daniels is cheaper.

Never use the stuff, though there are some other things I buy that are probably equally as pointless, but I only get them because they're cheap like $20/g.

Flushing has been scientifically proven to do nothing so don't waste money on that crap. You cannot pull mineral salts out of the plant no matter what you do other than water curing your bud after it's been harvested. That will dissolve salts but leaves the bud dark and unappealing to many uneducated eyes.

… Flushing is for toilets …
... or a neighborhood in Queens, NY. I used to flush ... but have not flushed any of my last four crops. I always smoke a couple of test bowls of the LARF soon after chop. Even wet, the unflushed LARF is pretty smooth.

Yea, I don't usually use it either.
I have a combo problem going on here.
I've got a Mag deficiency, AND lock out.
So, I'm trying to get over the root lock so I can get some Mag in her.

Really, if you insist on flushing, just use tap water or RO water with half a gram per gallon of epsom salt. The key is just don't have 0 PPM water for a flush as thats bad for the roots,

Mag lockout is likely caused by a low pH. Check the pH of the medium with a reliable digital soil pH probe. Then you can adjust your feed pH to bring things inline.

Good advice.
I didn't think of that ... thank you.

I use Coco Canna .. and I've never used a soil ph probe.
I prolly should learn how.

Spendy at $120+. But ...
So, the cheap $20 units don't work?
Blue Lab, Hanna, Apera. Those are the only ones I would even consider. I have all of them. Wouldn't recommend Apera because their support sucks. Wouldn't recommend the Hanna because it's shit, never worked right and I sent it in for warranty and they said it's fine but it won't calibrate. So crap. Blue Lab is whats left.

The cheap analog ones are garbage and are so far off that it's worse than no information at all. I have literally had them read opposite of whats really going on.

The milwaukee products I have tried sucked, had to calibrate every reading so I didn't trust the readings, took forever to stabilize.

If you do get a good soil pH meter, be sure to care for the probe as the manufacturer instructs. If you let it dry out it's doneski. Store in the proper KCL solution. Keep clean. don't use excessive force to stick it through roots and shit.

If using coco, don’t bother.. using a soil ph probe doesn’t really help outside of using soil. Just a solid flu

If using coco, don’t bother.. using a soil ph probe doesn’t really help outside of using soil. If you are in veg, I would say let the pot get quite dry, then fully flush it with small amount of calmag (try to get starting ppm to 150-180ish) 3 ml of A and B, and 5-6 ml rhizo per gallon, perhaps a good Myko product if you have it(great white and recharge seem to be the big ones)

Make sure you get plenty of run-off so no real previous salt buildups remain. This should get ya back to nice green new growth, generally atleast..
And on the ph meter topic, I do agree with getting one of the more decent brands. I LOVE my blue lab meter, though I will say, with pretty regular use, expect to ALSO have to purchase an additional probe (45-50$ USD, Amazon) every 6-10 months, generally. But I do believe it is worth it none the less, I calibrate about twice a week to ensure accuracy, and it works quickly, accurately, and effectively.

Beat of luck and happy growing!! Be safe and be happy
