Apera PH meters- AVOID

Well I will NOT be recommending Apera anymore. Sorry to all those that bought one on my recommendation.

My pen had a bad probe and I sent it in for warranty repair. Got a run around and stall and now they say it's out of warranty! They said it was covered according to my proof of purchase when I sent it in.

I started researching on amazon and people say Apera didn't return their pen saying it was lost in the mail, so I told them I require a tracking numer for my pen.

Others said Apera just stops responding to them.

Basically if you have problems you are likely to get fucked.

Another buddy has had nothing but problems since he bought, two defective 8500's.

Good to know. I was going to order one due to your recommendation, but haven't yet. What do you plan on using now? I want to get one to be able to test my soil.

Strips are the most accurate and reliable form of oh testing around. I'd use them before spending the dough on a blue lab.

Strips suck when you need to titrate pH buffer into a 55 gallon barrel while it's mixing.

Also my pH meter is a soil pH meter, you can use it for liquids or stick it in a piece of chicken and get a pH. Can't do that with strips and slurry tests are so pointless.

That sucks because I love my apera 5 in 1. My 3 bluelab monitors are nice for my rez but nothing beats the portability of a pen.

Well I have many pens, blue lab, hanna, apera. Can't live without them. Some are soil and liquid, some are just liquid. The Apera was my favorite until I had to deal with their customer service. Add that to the experience of my buddy @DoubleAtotheRON that I recommended buy Apera and he has had two duds in a row it seems.

Buy a blue lab guardian there well the worth will be one of these pieces of equipment in your room 100%

I was actually just looking into the best ph/ppm meters to get. I love soil and also want to find something that i can use for my future hydroponic ventures (near future) Whats everyones recommendations? I see UK recommends the guardian by blue lab. I would love to see everyones input

I just got my msg back today from weco they said they shipped it out so I am excited to have clean water to finally make my grow into a controlled experiment.

I have some old ass pens. I was thinking of buying a ppm+ph calibration and cleaning kit, and testing my old ass pens out first before I make the investment to buying new ppm/ph meters also.

If anyone knows of good kits I could use on my old ass bluelab ph/ppm pens and then also on if those dont work my new ph/ppm things,that would be sweeet. I am really trying to figure out what I should buy before I buy it.

Don’t get anything other than a guardian, Ive been there done that and wasted £ but now I’ve got a guardian for the past 6 months I’ve never looked back! They last years and are easy to calibrate, ph tester can be replaced for 50£ also which is a bonus

I see my promix pH run between 6.4 ish when first watered with a 6.4 ph'd nutrient solution to 5.7 or lower depending on how dry. I expected it to run the other way. ymmv

I have seen this with other peat based mixes. With a good soil pH meter I was no longer playing a guessing game. Made a world of difference for me.

When they get slow they are nearing the end of the probes life. For the blue labs I find they usually last around 2 years.
