DWC grow, buds were dried on herb screen for 2-3 days then jar'd for 2-3 months. Tastes real bad. Harsh cough too. Potent af but, sad. Halp? I'm thinking it dried too quickly. This ever happen to you?

Id say 2-3 days is to fast. Guessing you dried so fast ya lost terpenes profile and trapped,in all the chlorophyll. Which gives ya the bad taste. I'm in the middle of dry cure myself and ive noticed the few buds I dried in a 2-3 day period were horrible compared to the buds that hung for over a week

Dried about 5 to 10 days too quick. It is full of chlorophyll still.

You can water cure already dried weed.

It will take out a lot of the taste and smell, which I bet is like hay anyway currently, but will be very smooth to smoke, vape etc. and eliminate the cough

Yes...and it sucked.
The whole key is to never jar it up too early. Well that and waiting until the buds are fully mature before chop. A few more tips..,
Avoid cutting your plant into bits. Try to leave it whole during trimming; cut the plant just once at the base to chop it down. Hang it for a week at least; should take 7 days or longer to dry completely. Wait to until the branches audibly snap when bent over to jar the bud. If you bend a branch and it creases over without snapping its not ready yet.
Follow your nose; it always knows...yes you just read that in a toucan Sam voice... when the buds are fully dry don't seal them up right away. Place the lid on very loosely for the first day/night and then open the jar next day and get a good whiff. If it smells like dank weed it's good to seal the jar. If it smells like grass or hay...the same kind of smell you smell right now from your moldy buds...that is mold so dump it out and let it dry. Once it gets moldy it's about impossible to reverse it. If your bud is a bit too dry you can always just drop in a boveda pack or a green canna leaf to increase rh.

Good call, I'll water cure some more of this sweet sweet garbage.
Plants dried whole and was already feeling a bit crisp, but maybe I did jar them too early. Also this was earlier in the year when AC was running. Maybe I'll have better results in the winter (deep south here).
Thanks guys, appreciate your replies

i think it all depends on where you live for how long you should dry for.. my buds would be bone dry if i hung them for a week or ten days, so that's way too long, again depending on where you live and the environment you're in, temps, relative humidity, etc, etc.. i'd say there is no one size fits all for what it might take someone in say arizona to dry their buds vs some one who lives in louisiana to dry their gear it's going to be two very different amounts of days..
i like to dry till the buds feel dry to the touch on the outside.. how many days is that? i have no clue, depends on whether it's summer or winter time, but once the buds start to feel dry to the touch, into the jars they go.. gotta pay attention for the first few days in jars.. too wet in and you'll know in a few hours.. if they're too wet still, dump them all out and let them dry some more before back into the jars.. if they're ok, leave them in jars, burp a few times a day for the first week'ish or so, then down to one time a day for a few weeks or so after..

Yeah best limited to early flower, like weeks 2 and 3.
I'll use a couple doses of potassium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, extra MKP, etc... up to week five but I grow longer flowering strains than many people. I've been on a sativa kick lately. 12 -20 weeks until finish etc... Some people run the shortest flowering strains they can get and then crank the nutes all the way through. Buds might end up looking good but they taste like shit.

My recipe for PK booster with a 1:2 ratio of P:K is

1 Gram of MKP
0.33 Gram of Potassium Sulfate

Elemental PPM

P = 60
K = 114

When adding that mix I do about 0.67 grams per gallon.

What? You can't make for pennies what costs $25 a liter in a bottle with a fancy label and cool name. No way! :bigjoint:

More recent the science of drying marijuana to me but drier states will have drier bud because bud equalizes with the air humidity. Even after jarring moisture in it will still loose it once unjarred.

The difference between a humid state and dry state in bud moisture is only a few percent say 3-4% at a guess judging on all data i could pull.

Some have enough experience to play about but i always push a basic two week hang dry as you can overdry well grown bud only bring it to equilibrium with your environment - That and most were jarring too early then writing one of those many hay tasting cured bud/ mold in my jarred bud threads.

I hope that sounds right to you :-)

Dwc, what's that, dicking with Cannabis? If you want acceptable quality quit dicking with Cannabis and grow it in soil. Dwc only comes in 3 flavors: stagnant, fungicide and sweetners.

It getting cold out here in Georgia I was wondering if I could get a dry rack and just dry my herb In my shed or does there need to be a certain temp/ environment?

What’s your process of drying I’m seeing some folks says cuts the top colas first let bottom once finish. Others say just cut it all at once and let it hang

How do you do it ?

With about 5 million threads on drying and curing, and about 50 million variations of similar methods, (hang dry for at least a week, jar, burp jars periodically till RH is optimum, smoke/store), I just figured try it and see what happens. While hanging, it started to get that hay smell after a couple days, got reall hay like around day 5. I put in jars after 7 days. After 12hrs, RH was 64%. It’s has been 9 days in jars, through burping RH is down to 61%. I figure I wanted at least a 3 week cure, so 2 more weeks dropping the same amount would put me at 55%. I am noticing the smell starting to get much much better as time goes on, and the hay smell is almost all gone. So many people say hang dry till stems snap....screw that, all mine would be way too dry and wouldn’t be able to cure. I’ll raise RH a bit in drying tent next time and try to get a longer hang, but I’ll never go till stems snap unless I’m wanting to smoke right after hanging

Cut it all when ready and trim then hang indoors until it not only dries but smokes and tastes great - your done at that point jar or smoke whatever you want.

I hang indoors where i live, mostly thats in a perfect range for bot growing and drying :-)
