A good measurement for 2-3 weeks in next time, if bottoms look equivalent to mid, upper mid. Then you cut enough. If they aren't close in size cut more.@f series Thanks! I haven't lollipopped, I was too affraid to do it. I removed the lower 1/3 part kindof in the 2nd week of flowering, the remaining buds are looking pretty good and I decided to leave them. Maybe next time I'll do it, but much sooner.
Lollipop doesn't cost grow time, or do you do it in veg?i agree with just cutting some bottom crap off and non "lollipopping"
if your lights are strong they penetrate through the leaves all the way through. The only reason to cut things is training or for airflow IMO.
sure you may get bigger buds lollipopping but you that also costs valuable time, time that could be put into the next grow!
I'll keep it short to, the only reason i lollipop is for no larf. I do agree though, maybe i let them get too bigI don't do it in either because It makes no sense to me
If I have too many leaves on my plant It's because I waited too long, so next time I just flip a little earlier
only reason I'll cut something is for clones, to train, or allow more airflow
before getting too much into this, it is hard to make a claim that lolipopping or not will increase yield when people aren't taking into account Gram Per Watt Per KwH
most growers just use Gram per watt and leave out the fact it took an extra month to make the plant yield more, and not only that, the strain and other variables aren't controlled either
Hey I'm using bestva led how good is this productHello guys. This is my first grow and my first post. I am doing a SOG in a 8'x8' tent. I am using 3 Bestva LEDS (2x2000w and 1x3000w) and a strong air extractor, no intake fan.I was collecting seeds for over a year, so i have 6 strains:
20 Amnesia Haze from RQS
20 Pineapple Chunk from Barneys
20 Blue Cheese from Buddha Seeds
5 Somango from RQS
5 Gelat OG
10 Critical
I have 80 5l pots on 5.7 square meters, i chose SOG method in the last moment and found only after that is good to have only 1 strain from one mother plant for SOG.
I put the seeds to germinate on 12th August using 2 methods, Root Riot and Canna SeedMix ( for this one i germinated the seeds into paper towell before). I transplanted the root riot into 5l pots after 5 days, and the others after 10 days.
I can say that root riot worked much better, they seem a few days older. I ll post some pics tomorrow.
For feeding i am using the Canna Pack ( Canna Rhizotonic, Terra Vegga, Terra Flores, PK and Bloom).
I only gave them some rhizotonic and molasses two days ago.
I think that for the money you pay they do it pretty good. I can keep them at less than 24", the cooling system is great. I can't tell more for the moment.Hey I'm using bestva led how good is this product

At the beginning I thought only 60 will remain, but almost all of them have popped up and resisted. I keep the air extractor at about 2000m3/h, I have good extra ventilation and I use 6 leds (3x400w and 3x600w). They seem healthy in this moment, you can check the last pictures. Any advice is welcome, at least I will consider it for my next grow.I'm confused...(sorry may not have read all the posts)

First, I see that this is old news..
This is your first grow?...You're doing a SOG with 80 plants in an 8'x8' area? Really?
"If" this is correct..and I'm sorry if it is, I'd be really disappointed in the other posters not helping you along and making more suggestions as that is absolute overkill (number of plants)! All those Colas you see popping through in the SOG picture are the result of Low Stress Training (LST) your plant to create the nice big canopies..(each plant producing multiples of Colas.)...Those 80 plants, if grown properly, are going to totally over take that space and significantly reduce you efficiencies..
Any update as to how it worked out? Hopefully well...

Hey dude, first off..I'm excited for you..Nice to see someone go All in! On a project, I admire the enthusiasm...
My point was simply...someone should have given you a bit of guidance on the number of plants you should go with...particularly on your first run...rather than wave the pom-poms yelling go for it...Back in my day, It's almost like trying to stuff 15 people into a VW beetle..Good luck
I'll check out the snaps..and throw in my 2-cent opinion if I think of anything...Others have done a good job discussing lights.
Cheers
I do not agree. 800 watts over 64 square feet is only 12.5 watts/sq ft. That may be enough for veg, but less than half what you would want to flower. The general rule of thumb for high efficiency LEDs is to have at least 30 watts per square foot, aka 1920 watts. An 8x8 is a big area! Your 5x5 is only getting 16 watts per sq ft. Your bud density will suffer with only that much lighting. Expect lots of larf and popcorn buds. Sorry if I sound like Debbie Downer, just trying to give you some ideas. And yes, I do know a bit about- and run- LEDS. My 5x5 was getting 800 or so watts and was producing pretty well.Just buy some cheap knock off qb(s) as that really is all you need, 4 x 320 ($103 dollars each including the heatsinks), running at 200 watts each at the wall will light up a 8 x 8 with no troubles at all! Example below...
5 x 5 ( 2 x 320 running 200 watts each) 6 weeks old from seeds, 7 days into flower...

No. The Bestva "600w" I looked up is only 125 actual watts, which would give you 7.8 watts per square ft. Don't fall for the false claims of the Chinese lights. Look for the actual wattage. That Bestva would be okay in a 2x2 tent. Not great, but okay.Is a 600 good for a 4x4 tent I have a bestva 600w
