NFTG. Nectar For The Gods

Very much need a good ph pen with nectar, and a ppm pen......these things are critical!! There is a very small window where nectar works and its a dream when in that range, as soon as it drifts up or down too far then shit gets whacky. The main thing with running the sample kit is you will prolly need more Herc & Oly up if growing multiple plants and just follow the chart, there is loads of info & videos on nectar that outline all the do's & song's. You might want to add some perlite or pumice and some clean coco to that Happy frog as it tends to be pretty rich & heavy........The lime is smart too with happy frog but maybe just go 1/2 strength, assuming it's dolomite just do a Tbs. Per cubic foot, if straight limestone or calcium carbonate(oyster) then have at it, you can throw 1 cup per cubic foot.

Also Nizza, nectar is gentle so its really not necessary to feed half strength early, it's all laid out in the schedule. Once you get a feel for the line then you will see what can be tweaked, no feed schedule is gospel but If you stick to it You will see what type of quality nectar can produce. If you go back to the beginning of this thread and start reading & taking notes you will have loads of valuable info. And just keep the cap on Bloom Khaos your first run, at least foliars anyway!!

getting my sample kit soon
any recommendations? I use happy frog soil. Instead of buying a pH pen i was going to add a little extra lime in there anyone have any thoughts or advice?
I'm looking for peoples routines with the things that come in the free sample kit
such as 1/2 tsp per gal of this and that at earlier veg stage and so on?
blue lab is go to for ph/ppm pen .... set on 700 scale ...

I have blue lab pens they are probably ten years old.. haven’t used them in a while, any way to check them or not worth trying?

You can check with calibration solution......the ph need (2). A 7.0 ph and 4.0 ph bottle, and the ppm/ec meter has a 2.88 ec calibration solution. They are cheap but needed for proper maintenance. There is storage solution too but I just store mine in tap water.

If it’s gone dry, you’ll have to replace the sensor or the entire unit possibly, depending on model

get the cleaning kit and storage solution , worth a shot...... ph pen let it soak a few days in storage solution ... never know .....in last 6 yrs I only replaced my blue lab pens once and thats with heavy use.....like everything else you gotta keep the maintenance up......

i still have all the storage calibration and cleaning kits (also ten years old)
guess i should try changing the batteries and testing them? Do you guys think this calibration solution could still be good?

I barely used these pens when i got them and kept them very clean. They come dry, are we sure that just cause they dried out they're bad now?
I don't really wanna invest in pens again. I love soil and staying away from pens and all that jazz for now

I guess I might wanna just go with test strips. As for PPM, I'll look back in the thread and read what people are using for dosaging. Thanks alot guys for all the input. 40$ for a sample kit to get a test grow in is a great deal even if I don't outperform my other stuff on the first go

this would be replacing biobizz line if it's good enough. I use biobizz fish mix, algamic, acti-vera, grow, bloom, root juice, bio heaven, Dyna-gro Protekt and GH calmag+

I've heard the notg is calcium based and helps eliminate using cal-mag all the time. I think i've had a problem with tap water over time of the grow locking out cal-mag from the chloramine in it or whatever...

Trying all poland spring water this grow and seeing none of the previous "deficiencies" I had. But still looking for a cheap way to filter out the chloramine (i still haven't found one)

I think I may look for a place to refill my poland spring 5gal jugs for less than 7$, or maybe make a rain collection system. Rain water has alot of pollutants in it though and i'd still want to filter it through charcoal. This may be cheaper. I would really appreciate input on this!

This grow I chose to focus on water the essential compound and lighting (HLG qb's 288v2 rspecs and 4k v2's)

next grow I will be using the test kit so just trying to think ahead for when I get the ball rolling on flipping to flowering

Like bubba mentioned, soak that ph pen in the storage solution for 24 - 48 hours, then calibrate it.

Boogie blue filters are great for chloramines & chlorine, I use the plus version as it filters up the 48,000 gallons depending the source.....I have roughly 100 ppm municipal water that sits around 80 ppm after the boogie filter.

Biobizz grows a nice product and the algamic and aloe will prolly play well with nectar, ditch the calmag and protekt.

The calcium based nectar is ph critical, calcium is best taken up at 6.2 - 7.2 ph in a wide range but I find with nectar its best to stay between 6.3 - 6.6 ph for optimal uptake. The calcium is unbonded so when you mix feeds the majority of the nutrients & minerals react and latch on to the calcium so if in the right ph range the plant will get the majority of its needs from the calcium molecule. As well as ph, the ppm has a range that is suggested to keep the soil at, 250 - 450 ppm in veg and 350 - 550 ppm in bloom is a pretty good window to stay. The soil ppm range effects calcium uptake so quality ph & ppm pens are necessary with nectar. To get soil readings we take slurry tests, there is videos on how to at Oregon's Constant Gardener.

We are here to help so welcome and good luck on your first run.

your ph is very critical !!!! right on , Erie !!!! you can have a high ppms and good ph still be ok , wouldn't sit in high ppms for long unless you know how to work it ... as anyone new to this or kinda new good idea to stay in that window , now im just repeating what irie said .... lol ...

That 200:1 aloe is good but there is better, buildasoil upgraded theirs and a similar competitor is Growth Efficiency Technologies (GET), they do freeze dried coconut too. Using live aloe plants and liquid organic coconut water is more affordable and is way more potent than the powders. That silica can't hurt, I use the exact same product from Buildasoil......its hard to tell its benefits with nectar though since nectar branches end up so strong, but it is very beneficial for the rootzone biology too and can also be foliared. Another really good silica product is GOLDEN HARVEST but it's a different source, rock not rice hulls. I like trying new products as well, many duds along the way but I have found some gems that have ended up as staples in my gardening methods. Use your corn SST through transition as a foliar, they will go nuts!!

Fresh coconuts are the best, it has to be the green immature ones though, And if you get powdered you want the freeze dried. But you will get alot of the same benefit from the corn SST.
