Led vs de hps

Is there an led light that you would consider better/ very comparable to a de hps light for veg/ flower?
Right now I have single hps and would like to incorporate a little bit of both led and de hps. Very new to led and looking for some guidance lol

I am currently building some COB lights using Luminous CXM-22 Gen 4 3500K 90 CRI chips. 760 watts, I believe from my test light in my tent, will replace a 1kW DE HPS.

A Timber Fatty could do the job IMO.

Key is in how you use the LED. A quantum meter is handy to get the right amount of light at the canopy. Have to watch leaf surface temps and usually run warmer temps. Often the LED needs to be a little closer or a lot closer depending of the type of chips.

If I wanted to buy a LED instead of build one, to replace DE HPS, I was going to the the Timber Fatty VS.

If you wanna combine led and de in the same environment youre better off going with cmh. Led and hps have different temperature requirements, cmh is similar to led due to lot less IR.

How do you think those compare to the hlg 550v2? I figure if I’m gonna incorporate some led then I will spend the money and make it worthwhile.
I saw your ROI post and got me thinking.

Damn, I was trying to lower my electric bill as well as getting fancy with some led and get a broad spectrum.

Do you mean like have 2 hps lights 4-5 feet away from each other (for the coverage) then add an led light in between? Kinda like a supplemental light?

I currently have single ended bulbs.
The next purchase I do will be 1 de hps and 1 led light. Then eventually I’ll have the full shabang

If your doing a 4x8 how about putting the DE in the middle with one of these on each end?

Mixing led and 1000W HPS does not really work that optimal though.. You really need to hang that 1000W HPS quite high above the canopy. While the biggest benefit of led is that you can hang them quite close to the plants. Therefore minimizing the area of walls that you light up and lose photons on (ie less light lost on the walls)
