Damn, different situation here, with 8 5 gals and an 8gal res, they drink about 20 gals down every 4-5 days. Which I'm stoked about because I just refill it with new clean water.
A RES Change is basically impossible. Haha

A res change for me isn't impossible or even close to being difficult at all...I have a quick connect for my drain pump I hook a garden hose too and push a button on a remote and it drains the entire system minus 200ml per tote and that's it...So easy peazy for draining for me I thought of that ahead of time and not having to use a shop vac to get the other 2gal per tote out of it I think not.....k.i.s.s

First piece of advice.
If you bought a carbon filter because smell is important to get rid of, return that vivosun immediately.

They do not work.
You gotta spend the dolla on Phresh, Can, or mountain air.
I don't know who told you that but my vivosun 6in for my veg tent works great I don't smell a thing ...And fuck canfan garbage no thank you rounded pellet B's I'f u have any of those I'd suggest you return it asap......It's all in the type of carbon the company uses and how much flow they move etc..But pellets are thee worst period....
My $50 8in good life filter does wonders for my bloom tent as I don't smell a damn thing....I actually only paid 25 for it too since it came with a dent from shipping that I popped out anyways and got it for dirt cheap and wen time comes to get a new one gna buy it again. Not spending hundreds of dollars when it is thee same shit.....Also I used a 4in vivosun for my 1st grow and it did wonders for it and didn't smell anything either from it so I've had 2 so far and not a single issue and they work just fine ...My good life filter is more like a Ac infinity carbon filter actually....

Your filter is made from coconut shell carbon. Phresh is made from carbon mined out of the earth.

No my good life filter uses carbon as well just like the phresh filters use and for 1/10 of the price and does thee exact same thing....It works great for me I don't smell shit in my house or neighborhood for that matter either so I'm perfectly fine with what I have....Also the vivosun filters I got for free in the first place...And vivosun uses 1050+ RC 48 Australian Virgin Activated Charcoal...And my good life uses rc412 just like phresh ...So I'm perfectly fine with my cheap ass filters and they actually work....So if u want to pay 10x the price for the same exact thing then be my guest......

There's lots of plumbing for a rdwc setup with either airstones for veg and wAterfall for bloom that's just how it is...Plus the plumbing I have is nice in clean and not a complete cluster fuck like most ppl have...I'm too ocd to do shit like that I also don't use any hoses either for like my return and theres a drain kit as well which leaves me with less than a gal in the entire system to shop vac out which is better than the 20gal I used to have to do with the B's return pump to drain as it stops when it's 1/4 below the PVC manifolds so I think not and that's where the drains come into play and works wonderful esp for me since I am disabled which is the main reason I made the system I did for ease of use and not having to lift anything really...And I did make it k.i.s.s vs most rdwc setups check em out u will be shocked to see all the lines running everywhere in every direction etc and a complete cluster fuck lol

Ive always just done return drain line with flexible hose, can move them around then.3/8 feeders and air stones.Kinda waterfallish. Scrog them when there small and flip about 2 weeks from rooted clone. Its the light intensity that makes it.
I like your sprayer idea with perforated pipe along the edges.
