Sooo, I didn't optimize my space very well and my plants started growing way too large for the tent.
So I started just making clones and just chucking it into whatever medium was available and threw it outside my balcony. 3 soil, 1 kratky. I realized that the kratky grow was doing much better than the soil alternatives, so it made me wonder, could I do a tiny balcony-don't-care-much-about-it grow? Maybe refill the reservoir 2-3 times throughout it's lifetime and get a tiny plant.
Sooo without further ado:
Step 1: Avengers, Assemble!
- A closed small bin (~12" in height?)
- A clone with great roots
- Soldering iron
- Small plastic cup
- Hydro liquid
Step 2: Create your kratky bucket + netpot
Straightforward, use the soldering iron to just burn a hole the side of the net pot and then create your net pot by creating holes in the cup. Next, put your clone into the netpot and fill it up with clay pebbles.
*Note, I purposely did not pull all of the roots out of the netpot for a reason, I wanted to give as much room for the roots to get air from since there are no bubbles.
Step 3: Fill up the bucket with nutritious hydro stuff
I put the PPM quite high as I think whatever i'm using is quite friendly. So ~1150 and pH at ~6.
Step 4: Close the bucket and wait
That's really it. This really is just a fun grow and I seem to be just cutting clones and chucking it around the house because it keeps overgrowing the tent. I'm interested to see where this goes as I think it'll make amazing gifts!
