Hello I have an AK47 auto that I can see is starting flower but it's taking so long and the plant is so small. It's 7 weeks old and I have done lst. To me it seem to be going.ok.rhen suddenly it seems that I should give up and start again from scratch. I didn't have everything I have now when I started and that would have made things worse I know. What do you think I should do with her.. if you think she will do ok please let me know. Any help would be great. Growing in coco and perlite with mars hydro 300.only had that light 3 weeks tho. have been watering when I think and have just started to.use canna coco. Has some other stuff but thought this would be better.ph 5.8 temps between 21c 28c and 18 on 6 off lights.. please help thanks 20190922_141602.jpg20190922_141612.jpg 20190922_141619.jpg 20190922_141628.jpg

Don't start over. You have a healthy plant there; just too small. What I'd do is get rid of that light. IMO, lighting is the last place you want to cut corners. From what I've read, the Mars 300 is actually the equivalent of a 200W HID light, and even at that, the spectrum is very limited. You don't have the full spectrum, or even close to it.

Also, what did you light it with before the Mars? If it was something even worse, the root system probably didn't develop very well. To get good, robust growth, you need a robust, healthy root system, and my guess is yours never really developed. It does sound and look as though you're doing everything else right, though - or at least good enough to get much better results than that.

Ok taking everything you said on board. I do have another light coming that is brand new as the mars was cheap and used for god knows how much. It a a maxisun 300w but now you have said that I wish I never bought it..i have new seeds and all the new nutrients now as well as fans and hygrometer ph pen a nice room to grow. Before it was just in cupboard and with some real crappy lights.. would lowering the light work as I have it 20 inches above the plant. Would both the lights now be better for the plants? Another thing I have a bubbas gift that I topped that is also small and I wish I started with everything I needed.20190922_141634.jpg

You will learn as you grow, Never give up. Both these plants look healthy, Just stick with it and you will get some smoke for your effort. Lighting is an investment that will pay for itself after your first or second harvest. I would start with a Horticulture Lighting Group 135 Watt Quantum Board and its priced under $200. Keep in mind that Wattage = Yield, The bigger the light, the bigger the harvest. 16 - 18 inches is usually a good distance to keep your lights from the tops of the plants, any closer and you can get heat stress. I wouldn't recomend any nutrients for plants this small unless used at very low doses (10% - 20% recommended dose). Without intense light, your plants don't need supplemental feedings and you will cause yourself problems. At this point just focus on finishing the plants correctly and learning to read the plant.

Edit - Just reread your post, you will need to feed these plants if they are in a coco based medium as it has no nutritional value, Still stay in the lower 20% of the recommended dose

I get amazing results with my Horticulture Lighting Group 260 Watt XL Quantum Board in a 2 x 4 x 7 tent and Yield over 8 oz a run just to put it in perspective for ya. Here is a link to that light also - https://growerslights.com/collections/horticulture-lighting-group-quantum-board-led-kits/products/horticulture-lighting-group-260-watt-xl-quantum-board-led-kit

Oh, sure, but you're probably better off vegging another month or so once you get your lighting up to speed. You've waited this long; might as well wait an extra few weeks to get some decent yield and make it worthwhile.

It's amazing how much plants can put up with and how long they can wait and still turn out great. About 5 years ago, my wife's ex-husband had a motorcycle accident just when his clones were ready to up pot. He was in the hospital for 3 months. His girlfriend kept them watered, but didn't know how to do anything else. She finally asked me to help after about 2 months, and those plants were just screaming to be repotted. They were in 3-inch square pots, and they were a foot and a half tall. I really didn't know if they were going to survive; they looked awful.

I spent an afternoon up potting them, and by the time he got home they were in full flower and healthy as heck. Every one of them made it. He got over 2 pounds out of that run. And your plants are a lot better looking than his were by the time I potted them. Yours can wait a month... remember, it's a weed. And a tough one, at that.

It sounds as though this is your first grow. If that's true, then I don't know where you did your reading, but it looks to me as though you're reading the right things. These look like very healthy plants, especially for the first time out. You know what you're doing, so keep doing it. You're off to a good start. Just keep learning. My gut feeling is you have a good sense of how to grow plants, and that's something you can't learn from a million websites.

I can't give you much advice about LED, because I've never used it. I use HID lighting and just blitz 'em with photons. I can tell you that those plants aren't getting proper lighting, but that's about all I can say. Good plants start with good roots, and good roots need good lights. Light is what converts water and nutrients into roots and foliage. Skimp on the lighting, and you'll affect the entire process.

As an example, see this photo. Both of these plants were sitting in a 400W seedling tent, along with about 45 others, waiting for the plants in a 1000W tent to finish so they could move into that tent. The other plants were slow to finish, so these plants sat about 2 weeks longer than they should have. When I transplanted them from 2 oz cups into 12 oz cups, I moved most of them straight to the 1000W tent, but about 8 of them had to stay in the 400W tent an extra 4 days.

Look at the difference in these root systems. The one on the right was less than 4 days after being put under a 1000W light, the one on the left had spent those 4 days under a 400. The only thing different during those 4 days was the lighting.

Stop cutting all the fan leaves off and defoliating braches if you dont want small ass plants and leaves.

When you say low stress training lst and i see plants sliced up to funk then how is that low stress :-)

Totally agree with that.. I just seen vids with people cutting leaves to get more light .. if I was going to do it again which I am I'm going to let the plant just grow as it should and not bend and twist it all over the place . This was my 1st grow and I should have stayed away from stuff I do t know..i have learnt my lesson.. Also This will make you laugh the Ak47 is auto and bubbas gift is a female photo....shoyld I just flip the bubbas gift and leave auto with it.. proper rookie mistake..what I know now is the reason why I'm thinking start over but I have tried a lot with these.. I'm so confused lol

Let them get some growth then flip probably best. I run autos like photos and its all the same for me. Start more, get a second tent for veg if you havent already, get perpetual if you can and maximise experience and yeilds :-)

You said it best about the more complex stuff, i veg a month then top and flip to flower. Learn this then you will manage any way you want.

Theres a lot on youtube and written about growing and probably 90% is bunk :-)

I have heard that you don't want to top and trim an "auto", ak47 auto? Auto-flowering?
I never had an auto that didnt perform exactly like a photo so by that i can veg top and flip in a month no probs all autos ive run.

I wish i could have a strain that actually flowers at week 2 or 3 but its become apparent they still start exactly like photos for the first month then the same preflower and the same length of time flowering.

A dream some of us once had but the industry lied and was full of shit :-)

Youtube vids are the worst place to get reliable information on growing. I've clicked on a few links over the years people have posted and usually I see some dude without a clue and crispy fried plants. Or else it's just an infomercial to sell some overpriced product.

And stop cutting off the leaves. Look up photosynthesis. It's how the plant makes the energy it needs to grow big fat cola's.

just fyi - that mars 300 - i had a similar blurple light.
i had a 120w blurple and a 60w blurple similar to your mars 300

that light will grow dank weed.
from my 180w of blurple i used to get around 80 grams pre plant.
an AK47 ive had 100 grams on an Auto using those lights.

ive since upgraded to Quantum boards.
im just saying - those shitty blurple lights will work until you get better ones.

I have a 300w maxsisun dimmerble light coming 2 mo . This my 1st attempt and I know I ain't done that well but I know so much more now that when I pop a new seed I think I have a chance

my dude, if you are patient then this AK47 might still get massive.
since you are in coco you should feed daily until 10% runoff. that gives me the fastest growth once the plant has rooted its container.
While the plant is rooting you water when its dry only. but 7 weeks in it should have rooted that container now so you can water 1 - 2x a day to runoff.

Ensure your ph is 5.5 - 6.5 and give nutes every time you feed - if you water to runoff.

also, once a week i flush - which is probably cos mix my nutes too strong. but i find it helps.

Yes you have a chance. Your plant is growing and doesn't look unhealthy. You just cut off way too many leaves. And you're still asking if you should cut off more to let light in. Let it in where? And why?

I never cut a leaf and the results are awesome. STOP cutting off all the leaves. I don't believe in defoliation as you can tell by this photo.
