I have been growing Desert Roses in a DYI hydroponic DWC system n wondering if cannabis can b grown too ???
LMAO! Of course you can :). I would not be surprised at all if DWC was started by people growing weed.

A simple 5-gallon DWC is the most basic point of this kind of hydroponics. Most all new DWC beginners start planning on migrating to an "RDWC" setup half way through their first DWC grow. To much to explain, but if you check out my thread you should be able to pick up quite a bit.

You should ultimately go to GrowWeedEasy, and do some reading. It's a great site to get you started.

To answer your question about changing your water, get yourself a second 5-gallon bucket. Then you just make a bucket for the plant to be moved into each week.

When I ran DWC I had a large system and I had a 1 inch line coming off the res that had a valve and went to a floor drain. To dump the system I justt urned off the float feed from the RO filter and opened the drain. 200 gallons down the drain in about 15 minutes. Then I just refilled using a hose connected to my 300 gallon vertical storage tank (RO water), once it was close to full I add nutes and let the float get the last few gallons to full. So for my bigish setup It took about 40 minutes or so to change the nutes out.

Holy shit, 200 gallons. That's almost half of what my spa takes. My well would hate me, lol. You do Go Big though, I've seen your plants.

I used some really big totes for the plant sites, large capacity means you don't have to change nutes as often. I was able to go 21 days between res changes, I know I coulda gone longer but I never pushed it. With flood and drain I use large capacity and I always run the res for the whole flowering cycle.

21 days would be sweet man. My plants and living soil really likes daily watering, but I could get away with 2. I've been doing daily for the last week, and it's getting old fast. I thought every other day was bad enough, lol.

Well in my case it did encourage lazieness, and thats not good. If you don't have to go down to do stuff then you are less likely to catch something like mites or a hermie. So you still need to make yourself go be with the plants daily. Thats something I am bad about. If I don't have to, I generally don't lol. They say that not having to water frees you to do other cultivation chores but you have to make yourself do it. For me it was out of site, out of mind.

I have 50 gallons all together ..4 site with 13 gallon individual rdwc system..i change my nutrinets every 2 weeks..its literally set it abd forget it..home made ..but exactly like current culture..with 3 inch pvc tubes connecting each bucket..water chiller..when i say this thing grows monsters..i mean i veg for one month sometimes less..and get over three pounds..4 plants with only 1200 watts of cmh lights..this system along with pure power plant ..kills it..the guy at the hydro store who built it for me had made a killing showing video of these monsters..try rdwc..its amazing..i use advanced nutrients and spend nothing cuz they only need 450 ppm for feeding threw the whole cycle .
