Rain is Coming, Got any Advice?

Hello this is my 2nd season outdoors. I grew indoors for many years but just do the backyard boogie these days and am still learning about the differences between indoor and outdoor growing. Rain is in the forcast Monday and Wednesday this week, supposedly up until noon both days. I have 3 plants in the backyard one is in full flower and definitely not something I'd get wet if it was inside. The other two plants are not as far along and just have some dandelions going, maybe week 3-4 something like that. I figured I'd just cut and tape a couple garbage bags together to cover the plant with big buds and just let the rain hit the other two and shake em off when the rain stops in the afternoon. What are you doing to keep plants safe from rain? Any additional steps I should take or things to look out for? I'd hate to lose my chocolate diesel to the rain gods!

If your in New England I wouldn’t worry about it, cause the forecast changes hourly. I’ve heard of guys using trash bags, but personally I’d be to worried about a little moisture getting in there and just fermenting inside the bag, I see a lot of people using fans outside, that’s be the way I’d go to dry them the following day.

You very well better worry about it. Buds the bigger they get are like sponges. You’ll loose a lot due to mold. Unless you shake them off they won’t absorb as much water. Look for grey areas on your buds to indicate mold

Cover them. I bought a 10’ x 10’ shade structure at rite aid during their summer clearance a few years ago for like 15 bucks.

Or go pick up some wood and clear poly from Home Depot and build something.

I literally have a structure standing by for rain, and I live in SoCal, so it probably won’t even rain till January here, lol.

If you’re worried about mold and bud rot, definitely cover the plant/s in question.

It looks exactly like that. It’ll last a season or two. I cover mine with clear poly OVER the white plastic cover it comes with for added protection.

It’s not an “EZ” up though, more like a “struggle with poles and placement for an hour” up.

But totally worth the peace of mind having rain protocol in place

Might go on the Xmas list its super affordable ,will have to find some good anchors though, feel like a nice gust would take it for a ride.

It’s got places to anchor all over. Little loops of plastic you can tie down. I just filled some gallon jugs with water and tied them to the loops with rope.

I also believe the feet, although plastic, have holes in them you could stake down with really skinny stakes. Like the metal wire lookin stakes
