Max # of bud sites...

These are my Purple Kush plants in 2nd week of flower. I kept everything so there are lots of buds.....at least 100 per plant maybe more. Should i keep them all. Some branches have 10 buds within 6 inches. Thanks in advance....y

Well, my thoughts would be defoliate a bit. Here in lower Michigan early morning dew can create some bad things. Opening up the plant , by removal of some bigger leaves will give center more light as well cutting down in possible mold issues, Canada has to be similar to us.

I hear ya about the dew but will any pruning set the flowering back? It will be mid october as it is til they finish....
Not exactly knowing what i am doing i tend to prefer the leave it alone advise........

I would lollipop a bit to open up the interior of the plant. As to what to keep it is subjective-if lower branches are lagging as the plant develops, it may be better to lose them and let the others grow.

But back to the thread title... These plants have like 100 buds flowering each. According to the size of the plants in 7 Gallon buckets....how many buds should I allow to continue growing?

There’s no set #. If it was me I would leave it be. If you do decide to defoliate, try not to go crazy. Just clean up the bottom and inside a little for air flow.

I'm kinda in a similar situation, except I'm straight in the ground. 7 foot 6, maybe a hundred budsites. Only mine is seeded. Way I see it the max number of budsites is determined by how many the root system can support. Some people think that removing lower budsites makes the tops bigger, but other guys tried growing clones and trimming the bottom of one and leaving the other untrimmed. Tops weren't bigger, but the lower buds were smaller, less saleable. it really depends on who you believe, and we're all just "guys on the internet" to each other. I'll use a couple of the prettiest top buds for smoke, then the rest for edibles, so more bud just spread out works for me. Do whatever you feel is right.

Well I certainly am not in the marketing game at all. It's for personal use only and some gifting. Not concerned with bud size, just want quality and weight I guess.

Depends, I tend to notice some plants are genetically predisposed to develop the lower buds late. If I notice everything else has tons of white hairs but the bottoms don't have any or very little then I cut those budsites off.

i take off lateral branches that aren't going to break the canopy by 5-6 inches. also judge by the width of the stem. it depends where you're at in flowering, past a certain point removing budsites is brainless and ur better off just yoyo-ing every branch and proviging support. but be ready for that. if u have 100 flimsy branches with heavy buds theyre all gonna be dragging along the ground.

True. My Cherry Bomb had lower budsites start and finish well after the tops, but my Bakerstreet had the lower sites start first, and they are still a bit ahead of the uppers.
