Lets see how she reacts to compost mix

Damn. She is getting pretty damn light. One of my biggest gelato was doing that but went back to normal green and now is lightening up just a bit. Mine is caused by root aphids I'm guessing from what I saw today. The dying lower leaves looked the same as that picture you posted when you first noticed it. Yellowing veins with green in between eventually turning yellow as well. Kinda like mg def but reverse the colors. Did you disturb the topsoil any while mulching?

The soil mix from pre planting is pretty loose when moist so I figured the mulching would keep it soft, just added a thin layer of perlite then mulched. This might be the Blue Gelato #41 or Strawberry Gum. After what you said about the aphids eating neem like cheerios, I'm starting to worry about those little shits. Here's a closer pic too. Also last 2 waterings had a good amount of mag.

I have the same purple leaf petiole shit going on but also purple streaks on the stems. Root aphid infestation commonly manifest itself as magnesium deficiency. I foliar fed yesterday with 2 tbsp Epsom salt per gallon water. Usually 1 tbsp per gal will green them right up during magnesium deficiency. That didn't do shit yesterday but make them look sorta calcium deficient now too lol. This ain't my first rodeo with aphids either bro. In 2014 I had them in my light dep flowers. Killed my yield and plants were less frosty. But those were leaf eating aphids and I got rid of them by hitting all my full season vegging plants with Bayer Fruit, Citrus, & Vegetable. I never dealt with root aphids but I hit everything including my veggie/herb garden with that shit right now. Hopefully it works, and fast. I been pulling off dead/dying leaves like a mfer the past two days. Getting to the point where I'm scared I'm going to lose my 4 biggest ladies. Stick your finger in the root zone and disturb it a bit. If you have them you'll see them pop out the soil and dart across to another location and dive in. They're good at avoiding getting crushed too.

LOL, friggin weather, was a 10% of rain for the next few days forecast when I spent an hour watering, and just I woke up to rain and a huge green blob that's not going anywhere lol. Might as well go out there and give my tomatoes a top sprinkle of humic acid, lime, sulfur, azomite, blood meal, rock phosphate and potash shaken up in a bag like seasonings then throw it around. They're just getting close to ripe, don't want them getting messed up now.

Finally got to check for aphids after 14 hours of rain. Yeah those little shits are in all the pots but the other strains seem fine and are dark green. They aren't eating the leaves or anything visible but I want to kill them fast. Gotta do some reading up on organic remedies. If I remember correctly from like 10 years ago, a dude in Norcal said something about tobacco and dish soap or something... idk gotta do some reading.

I knew it bro. Just from having the same general problems as me. Plant must be the Blue Gelato lol. No wonder they say Gelato is difficult to grow haha. I went nuclear and hit them with imid because my plants began rapidly yellowing and wilting in the sun and organic methods can take weeks to show any results and arent guaranteed to erradicate an infestation. In the walkways of my other two greenhouse i sprayed and watered in nematodes and the numbers seem to be way down. Fire ants were farming root aphids in the ground and the nematode pack i got is supposed to control both. I got them on amazon. Today im not seeing alot of root aphids and alot less fire ants on the ground. The fire ants escort the aphids in between plants in exchange for the white secretions as a food source. Check for ants also. Getting rid of them will prevent aphids from being brought back in. Since the fire ants are gone I am seeing alot of soil mites going from plant to plant, im assuming eating the aphids. You can order soil mites on amazon too if I'm not mistaken. They are coming from my compost pile for free though lol.

Cinnamon is supposed to work for both ants and mites that live in the soil, don't know if it would work on root aphids, never heard of them. Guess we don't get them here, or the nematodes we're using to control japanese garden beetles are effective against them too.

Pulled the trigger and ordered the "Nature's Good Guys" brand 30 million nematodes and added 3000 ladybugs to the order from the same shipper just for the heck of it. Shipping sucks tho lol, $15 shipping and Wednesday at the earliest estimate it said. I hate waiting for stuff I want to do right away. And thanks guys, a solo outdoor grow is no fun lol, if it wasn't for the cost of electric to yield ratio I would be happy with just the spidermites indoors lol.

She hasn't gotten any worse, lol if anything she's still stretching a few days into flower I think. Hopefully after my amazon delivery she bounces back to a dark green. I'm 6' 2" just stood in for a height reference cause I couldn't find may tape measure lol.

Update on the plant I call big girl. She hasn't gone to hell like I was worried but I'd still like to do what I can to get the best out of her. Picked this Age Old Organics stuff up on impulse last night but after finding little info on it and it being discontinued I may exchange it for liquid live enzymes or liquid live microbes to add to the watering. Anyone have experience comparing it to granular Mykos or compost tea?
