The Public Sucks

I try to be nice to the Trumpkins. A lot have been roped in and haven't been exposed to anything other than vitriol from what they think is the 'left' but is really the same Russian troll arguing on several different accounts helping the one real person in the conversation to get to where they need to be to vote the way the Russians want them to vote. (feel free to substitute MBS saudi, Trump, Chinese, ect troll for Russians).
You, Hannimal, have some great input, it is always constructive. I enjoy reading what you have to say, even if it goes against my views. Your not going to change anyone's mind though, you are surrounded by trolls that make people hate the left instead of listening to you. You gotta get a different group of friends, from what I seen your surrounded by raging alcoholics with a chips on their shoulders.

I get the impression of "both sides are bad and there's no difference between them, give up and don't even bother", it seems they don't know right from wrong, much less left from right. When I mention Trump's behavior and treason they gloss over it, they go for fruitcake conspiracy theories and ignore the very real conspiracy that threatens their country and democracy.

It's no secret the working and middle classes have been screwed in America for decades and not much secret about who's been doing most of the screwing either.
I try to remember when watching politicians talk that the ones who last tend to not lie. What they do is tell the truth but make it either sound like they are lying by using technicalities or answering a totally different question. I gave up trying to convince people of anything for a few years and stepped away from politics until 2017 when everything clicked in place about the Russian media campaign of disinformation.

I also try to not go as far as saying anyone has been 'screwed over' too by politicians. Mostly I think people try to do what they think is the right thing to do, but just have such a narrow understanding that they are ignorant to the ways people will be hurt and are slow to say they are wrong in order to fix anything because they would rather use it to run against it.
I will take that bet, we can paypal it when the time comes. People seen how fucked up the last election was, they are abandoning it. If there is a boom, its all the people that trump disappointed returning to spite vote against him.

Or are you referring to the amount of liberals that might actually go out and vote this time? Either way, I take that wager.
You mean 2018? There was some rampant Republican voter fraud and vote suppression. The Russian have been steadily attacking our electorate through online disinformation campaigns, now the Religious Chinese for Trump are jumping into the fray with crazy money, on and on. It is worrisome knowing that the Russians are fully invited by Trump to screw with us again, and has Mitch Mcconnell's full support too, but I think they are not going to be able to pull it off this time.

Too many people know their game this time around, the Democratic field is too large to pinpoint this years "Hillary Clinton" to attack with a massive years long disinformation campaign until much closer to November 2020, and they are too different. If they push to bring hate about old white guys to hurt Biden, Trump takes a hit and becomes vulnerable to Harris or Warren. If they go with their stand by racial/female hate campaign to hurt Harris, Biden wins.

If Biden loses the primary, A stronger candidate will dismantle Trump onstage. Biden might be the best bet for Trump, but worse for Mitch McConnell. It is nice having a huge field this year to combat the foreign trolling campaign as long as possible.

Thank you, I am not trying to change minds necessarily, just open them up a bit to what is flowing into them, on both sides. I like weed and joined this site shortly after I started growing. I decided to start posting again to figure out what was happening to my family and to keep up on what they were being exposed to so I wouldn't be surprised again like I was in 2016 when we all stopped talking to each other. This site gets a lot of outside trolling from every direction so it keeps me on my toes.

Edit:
I kind of figure I can't fight a war, but I can stake out my little chunk of ground and make my stand, this just happens to be the forum I chose.

There are only two side of the political spectrum. Those who want to control other people and those who don't.

Which side are you on?

I think the Democrats should hide the Clintons for this election, trump has destroyed their reputation, I don't think they can help the campaign. Use them to secure their last elections voter and move on. It seems like the Democrats have too many choices and too many split minds and loyalties within the party. A lot of Bernie supporters felt cheated by the Democrats, their own party, last election. If Bernie loses again, I doubt the majority of will show support for another candidate. While the Republicans know they are going trump and can build off from his old support ahead of time.

No, you either support voluntary human interactions or you don't.

All political actions are based in involuntary human interactions and are akin to a master/slave paradigm. What color the clowns nose is that you chose to follow, might be interesting, but it's a secondary feature of the basic premise.

I agree, they can send some money and emails to their followers, but much other than that will just come off as sour grapes for 2016. It is going to be a interesting upcoming year to see where we are at as a society.

I don't think I am boxed into believing human interactions should be voluntary, but dismissing that involuntary ones do exist and are inevitable. Like if I was at a restaurant and passed out, I would involuntarily be put into an ambulance and treated for whatever. Should that be illegal? Should we wait for people to recover enough to sign a medical waiver before we treat/don't treat?

Using legal or illegal as the metric to determine right or wrong is not a good way to pose a philosophical question.

"We" shouldn't do anything. You should follow your conscience and accept the rewards and consequences.

If you are unconscious, you aren't able to make a voluntary choice are you ?

Correct, which is why it is an involuntary choice that I think should exist. And while I do support voluntary human interaction, I also see that some involuntary are also necessary and a reality, which is why I said false dichotomy. Life is a series of cause and effect, so I do agree with the acceptance of anything/everything we do.

Some people are not born with a fucking conscience. I want you and the government to fund me on a DNA project. Keep paying your taxes so maybe I can get a grant using wifey as a front to do so...by the way what is your blood type ?

The difference you are failing to distinguish, accept or understand is an unconscious person cannot make a voluntary choice or an involuntary choice. In that case it's up to the people who are conscious to do something....or do nothing.

A conscious person can make a voluntary choice, for themselves. In that case, it's up to them.

Do you support making other peoples choices for them, when they've made it clear they don't agree with your idea, and simply want to peacefully coexist ? Leaving you to try your idea as long as you don't forcibly include them in it ?

That's the pertinent voluntary versus involuntary line of questioning.

Ok then, how about putting a bag of groceries on the porch of a person who is hungry but refuses to take charity?

Or maybe better example would be cell service? You may hate cell phones and be ardent against them, but I have no problem with government ok'ing a tower that would give you service at your home. You can choose not to use it, but it is still technically forced on you.

Vampire ? no such thing, but I would like to see if you are Rhesus negative and to see how much of this coordinates with your Neanderthal DNA
