How long to dry?

I'm new to growing and I only grew three plants successfully. The first one was larger and dried in 5 days. The second two never dried so I jarred them 15 days later. Third plant is on day 11. And the buds feel a lil dry but the stems are bendy. Rh 55% at 75 degrees. Should I jar it?. Any advice would help. Thanks.

Curing it take awhile, but that seems a bit extreme, Are they on a Screen or what ? Keeping air under the curing buds will help her dry, If you put them in a jar just make sure to keep the lid loose and check them several times a day to keep moving them. the 75 is a bit hot even with low humidity try to get the temps down 5 degrees and keep the RH low 55 should be okay. I am curing at 60 RH and 70 temps and about 10 days and I jar them and keep moving in jar until your stems are not bendy. LOL is that a word ?
Aluminum foil over the top on a screen loosely will help slow down you curing process, The longer it takes the better taste. Well that's what I have found to be the case.

Temps and Humidity go hand in hand, Higher temps hold more moisture,. lower temps less moisture. IMO only. the lower temps cure much better than being to hot.

Good luck with your Curing Process. OH BTW. Welcome to RIU :)

If my plants arnt feeling like they are drying quick enough after 3 days I turn on the dehumidifier I keep in my drying room. I expect all my harvested crops to be done drying in 5 days

5 days seems pretty quick to Cure a nugget. But to each their own. I find the longer the Cure the better the taste.
when you cure that fast do you find your trichomes fall off more or are the okay being cured that fast ?

Simply hang till they smoke, generally they take a week to dry but two to be smooth and strong. Youll know you have the right spot to dry in when this happens. Easy :-)

Well if that is what you said then. I guess that answers that. LOL
If there was any confusion what I meant, i mean i check progress at 3 days, if it isnt moving at the speed required to be done at 5, I turn on the dehum.

The dry section I expect done in 5 days, then I cure and burp as needed.

Thanks for all the replies guys. It is hanging on rack.I lowered the temp to 70 degrees. Earlier today. So I guess jarring it tomorrow with loose foil lid like bear 420 said and keep checking it. Also anyone have any thoughts on this brown bag technique I have been reading about?

I like drying @ 64F/64%RH, 3 points above my 61% RH storage target. Then starting at day 7, I will jar a big branch and if in 12 hours the RH goes above 67% in that jar, I give my harvest another day of hang-time. and for me, it normally takes 12 - 14 days before that harvest get its second and final trimming and is jarred! Then the burping process begins, which usually takes another 7 - 12 days to get the RH in each jar from the final hang-time RH which is usually between 64% - 66% to my target storage RH which is 61%.

I do something very similar but a bit lazier.

Just so you new guys know - dried weed is 10-15% moisture, you will need to use the air equilibrium data to work that out to a final air humidity.

At 10-15% moisture bud smokes good, this little bit if moisture allows bacteria to futher degrade pigment and such over the length if the cure :-)

Drying/Curing

55-60% humidity. 60-65deg F.

Dark room.

Good airflow but not fans blowing on buds.

5-15 days depending on bud size and pre-trimming.

Done drying once the stems crack but dont break when bent.

Into jars, burp twice a day for 15mins for 2 weeks.

Continue burping as you see fit depending on how humid it is where you live.

Can add Boveda(or similar) humidity packs if preferred to maintain soecific humidty. IE. 55%, 62%
