493 grams per light, or about 8.3 lbs wet per light.

8.3 x 453.59 = 3764.8

3764.8 - 493 = 3271.8 grams

3271.8 / 3764.8 = 86.9%
Exactly!... On the subject of temps. I have an IR meter and the tops of the HLG's run around 113F at the heat sink (which is the whole top of the fixture), and about 132f from the diodes, some areas are a little cooler.

I have yielded equivalent per square foot using CXM-22 COB setup at about 37.5 watts per sqft. You seem to spend a lot of time telling people your negative opinion of LED lighting, meanwhile there are growers out there doing really well with LED. I think that once you learn how to apply the technology properly you can pull the weight and have the quality. Perhaps you are just a better grower than your buddy, or maybe he doesn't know how to grow under LED.
because there facts mate maybe were you live you may save more on power but were i am it works out to be about a 9 dollar diff and for the prices of 1 led u can pretty much set a hole room up with either cmh or hps and of course you are yielding great amounts cramming 4-6 leds together you will not yield the same with a single led unless you are will to fork out 2-3k and who is that stupid to pay that much for a grow light ?? unless your american them cunts will buy anything jesus i was selling potatoes to use with a happy message for 65 bucks a peace

I feel like I do a lot of research before I spend $1100 per light. That being said, I can run 18 1000w LED's for $400 a month.. and that includes fans, intake fans, exhaust, a 2 ton AC unit, 2 dehumidifiers, pumps, etc. And my numbers are accurate. I cannot see any way on God's green earth how you can run CMH/HPS for that kind of money for years at a time without the added cost of electricity, bulb change outs, and keeping the heat down with added AC costs. Perhaps you have not seen the light on the new LED technology. Have a look at this link, and maybe it will change your mind. These are real numbers that I ran through 2 grows..

For what?
He's not doing anything wrong, a ban is a bit extreme. Thing is though he tries to tell new growers that LED sucks and to ditch their lights.. Thats just bad information. Everyone has an opinion and they are welcome to share it but the way he does it stinks. It is the duty of the individual reader to sort out the bad information from the good, I just hope he doesn't sway people in a bad direction with his rhetoric. Personal beliefs aside he should see that others do have great results and saving electricity isn't the only reason to use LED.

I agree banning is a little extreme, but I think there are better ways to express your opinions than how he does it. I also don't like the anti American comments. I respect people from all countries. Sorry, I just don't like his attitude.

looks awesome, why are lights so far away from plants? 16 inches optimal? Or?

Let me rephrase... $400 a month is including 18 HLG 550 v2's,(1000w equivalent) a 2 ton Carrier AC/Heat Unit, 2, 4000 sq ft dehumidifiers, 2, 24 inch fans, 1 Hyperfan intake, a water pump, 12 T5 overhead lights, 1 20 cubic ft freezer for fresh storage of material, and 1 18000 btu wall unit for the processing room.

so whats the desired par? Do you run lights closer for veg or flower or always that far away? Maybe I'm running to close
Depends on if you are using c02 or not. I've not used c02 so I won't comment on levels.

If not using c02 supplementation, around 700-900 umols depending on strain and the desired DLI(Daily light intergal) while in flower. In veg it depends on your desired rate of growth.

I like to keep it around 450 PAR during seedling and into veg. We veg for 8 weeks, and we'll ramp it up to 650ish by the time veg comes to a close. Then we will see readings of up to 850-900 during flower, and pull it back down the last 3 weeks to kinda mimic fall. This is not in stone or anything, just a preference on how we do it.
