6.73 ph and 333 ppm

So try and feed heavier on herc and add less Olympus up to keep the ph lower?
That ph not bad, just bump feeds a bit and ph to 6.3/6.4ish. Olympus is not just a ph buffer, its a very important calcium source, 10% I think. So don't look at it like you need less, it will actually require more as you up feeds. The acids in the feeds and from microbes & roots will manage your ph, along with olympus, you just want to keep in range. And with BK, its very beneficial to be in the upper range like i mentioned before. To be safe before you start drenching BK, maybe hold it out for a couple heavy feeds to load the soil with a good calcium reserve.

I’ll be sure to load up over the next few feedings before I start to add the Bk to the feedings. I just finished up the bottle of foliar I had mixed up so I wasn’t sure if it was worth another one

bk root drench is not as bad as a foliar , because the mix in with the food is already there, but still need to keep the ppms up .. foliar should be stop by the end of week 2 of flower or 2 weeks from 12/12 switch ... it should be foliar feed up to week 1 of flower or foliar till 2nd week of transition .... I already had some BK leaf curl and didn't even used BK yet ... then I remembered , I mixed in a fresh used soil from last harvest and no time to cook , still had BK in soil ...... herc the lady and curl went away ....

Got a question maybe someone can help.

Had my plants in 3 gallon smart pots, plants are doing amazing on the NFTG's line ... I didnt learn about the slf100 and have only been using it about a week ? I am in soil, and I had about a inch of perlite on top and started noticing that my plants were getting slower and slower to drain, I was thinking it was a build up of the bone gum scott was talking about from using heavy quantities of the herc. Last night I removed the perlite and saw that the soil is just roots pretty much. Just a massive webbing of roots, so I scraped up the top 1/4" or so to see if it would help with drainage and it did a bit but not much.

If your still with me, today is day 21 from flip of 12/12 ... My plants are in soil, in 3 gallon smart pots, draining super slow taking up way to much time as the roots are just making a super web. If I were to slide a 5 gallon smart pot or a 7 or a 10 gallon smart pot under neath them .. and then with a razorblade removed the old 3 gallon and filled in with soil around the old rootball/soil bunch with new soil, would the roots continue to grow out into the new medium or are the roots pretty much done growing now at 21 days in ? I only ask cause I hand water .. they drink about a gallon a day .. and its taking close to 3 hours now with the slow draining. Anyone ?

yeah watering gets slow in bloom with a rootbound pot and heavy bone gum. It takes time for my feeds to penetrate but not as long as you are claiming. I rake the surface and often have to poke holes with a pencil or the like all over the surface. It helps.........so does a yucca or a Bokashi. As for repotting, Ive never done it in bloom but I know others have. I dont care how careful you are at removing the fabric, its going to damage the roots that have webbed in. Ever since I started using nectar, every successive grow I find myself using larger pots....it makes using nectar so much easier, 5 gallon minimum with a short VEG, 10 gallon even better, and so on.....just makes feeding and slurries much easier. You could just drop it in a 7 or 10 gal and pack soil around it, the roots will grow right thru and into the new media. Roots dont grow as agressive in bloom as in veg but they do grow daily in search for the next meal, the root tips will absorb all they can from a feed and as soon as they need more nutrition, they will extend a little further in hopes of finding more, so i dont think root growth ever stops completely. Im sure someone thats repotted in bloom will chime in.

I appreciate your time and your response! Looks like I am going to have to up-pot from 3's to a 7 it seems! Thanks for the help !

No prob......let us know what you decide to do and how she reacts. We have all run into this issue, it helps to stick to a set veg length and size pot accordingly, because Nectar grows extremely fibrous rootballs in fabric pots!!

59BF5684-B33E-493F-BE5C-EB3019B34921.jpeg Yeah I might be running into that issue as well, as I am in 3 gal fabric as well. I take frequent EC measurements with a probe, so I am constantly adding aeration. I plan on finishing out in them so we will see.

Ppm is finally high enough to do a tea.

3 gallon pots 1-3 week veg , 5 gallon pots 3-5 week veg , 7 gallon pots 5-8 week veg , 10 gallon 8-10 week veg .... but I went from 5 to 10 gallon week 3 in flower and still filled out nicely ....... another good way to figure out if pot is to small is that your slurry ppms stays low .....

Damnnnnn dudes. Lol im like a broken record. So got soil back in range to 6.6-6.8 fed them 2x at 6.5 slurries held strong at 6.5-6.6 fed them a tea at 6.5 all soil is reading 5.8.... no way its my meter dude something with the microbes and the way im feeding is causing wicked big drops. Back to gaia n herc flushes we go... i dont get it. Its Getting depressing now.

How are your ppms.....before and after feeds? That's crazy to drop a whole point so fast!!!

Plants look good but not praying like they were the last few days and the one i thought had a mag defic is looking rough it hasnt grown any at all. Thats ph was the lowest. All other plants look good. I fed 1800ppm then it was my tea day i didnt slurry before i fed the tea. I just slurried seing how its first feed after tea and ph has dropped alot. Ppms are at 450-500. I fed 45ml gaia 45ml herc ph to 7.0. Im soaking ph pen and gna cal again but its only been 10 days. And i put meter in 7.0 solution it read 7.0 and it did at 4.0 too. I also slurried a new bag of #4 just to see if it would give me low ph and it read 6.7 at 240ppm. Seems like slurryint everysingle feed cant be good for my roots i just hear them ripping to shreds. I wanted to slurry after 2nd feed and see if its needs a tea or flush but seems im going to have to slurry every time. Im thinking about feeding at 6.8 and ride the drift down because thats what it keeps doing.

whats going on is the food is there , but a ph of 5.8 the plant can't access the food , so now is the time to do feed teas only ! make sure you ph the water before adding the microbes ....

I still don't get the 1 point drop so abruptly in bloom.....I use so much Oly up in feeds, my mid bloom ph never drops; even when my slurry ppms jump up too high the oly stabalizes the acids. How much Oly does your 1800 ppm feed take to ph where you need it? My 1800 ppm feeds take at least 20-25 ml per gallon to hit 6.5/6.6 so plenty of calcium goes in to help keep the soil buffering, and it has the most available calcium in the line. My only thought is your not getting enough Oly up in the rootzone, if this is the case maybe your RO mineralizer is buffering your ph some so more Oly up isn't needed to hit 6.6 in your feeds. Its a head scratcher for sure???

Ive used at least 10 ml/ gallon up to bloom. Then my ph dropped and i was hitting them with massive amounts of oly up. Got them back in line went back to the normal feeds hit them with there first tea and it dropped right back down.

The rootzone and plant was prolly used to the massive amounts of calcium and it prolly needed it, then when feeds leveled off they stopped getting the amount they wanted and were used to.... That's my hypothesis anyway???...LOL....Olympus should be looked at like a nutrient input that happens to raise Ph.....it's very important to successfully running the line. Also good to know that P-solubizing bacteria have a tendency to lower the soil ph but I've never experienced a full point drop almost over night........just feed accordingly, might need to stay pinned at 2000+ ppm to keep them happy!!
