OK so i have a 4x4x2 grow room 2ftW,4Ft tall, and 4ft long I have a 400 watt hps light with out reflector yet made a home made one and its at the inside top of the room the room is fully mylar covered for full reflection, and i plan on getting the cool tube but im on a budget, i bought and installed a 8" inline fan rated at 471 cfms exhausting out with 8" ductin right up to the light bulb. The exhaust is 8" flowing straight out of the grow room and down and is flowing opposite of any venting. THe room is averageing 90 degrees it has gotten to 99 at its highest and 86 at its lowest im using two diff temp gauges that both read different so i find the average between the two, Anyways. HOW CAN I POSSIBLY COOL THE ROOM DOWN MORE WITH OUT AC. My house dosent have ac either. so the only air being sucked in is the tempertaure of my room. do i need to install a fan blowing in towards the opposite and bottom of where the exhaust fan is? and is an 8" fan with 471 cfm overkill? from what ive been reading i might only need a smaller fan. Any help or opinion would help out a lot thanks MAT

You could use a smaller fan on an inline A/Ced hood but you gotta exhaust to a place where the hot air can't be recirculated through the intake. You gotta do that anyway but an A/c hood will keep your plants from drying up with all that air movement.

That fan should cool that area easily.. I would think even without a cooltube. I have an area similar to that... 20" deep, 38" wide, 38" good growable height (56" total). I too ordered a 8" fan rated for like 661 CFM but I am still waiting on it.. should be here this week.. fuckin better be... ne ways.. I hooked up a small 150 CFM inline 6" fan up for now and picked up a hurricane shade for candles from hobby lobby.. like $5 bucks.. for the cooltube... This picture is like a week in half old but shows my space and setup... Temps have not got over 84.4 degrees, even with this shitty fan and no fan inside circulating air...

In this picture I have a few holes drilled in the floor for the intake and in the top chamber (not shown in pic) I exhaust through carbon filter and I drilled more holes on top of the cabinet to let it flow out of the cab. Temps are staying good for me.. atleast for now.. kinda makes me think I went way over board with the 8" 661 CFM fan I purchased... we'll see.

OscarMiya that sounds great bro your like in the same exact postion, does your house have AC cuz mine dosent, and i have the hot air moving out as far as possible away frow the grow room, it sill heats my room up tho, and i cant vent out it will be to noticeable unless i think of something else, but my house dosent have ac, the outside temp is 95 or it has been hopefully it will start to cool down, i have 3 temperature gauges so now im just finding the average and i figured out that im about 93 in the day time peaks, and 82 at night its been warm at night too. hopefully when it starts to cool down i can run fan to run outside cool air in. But does anywhen think that a cool tube will drop temps at all?

Nah- I don't have a/c but its kinda cold outside here. A cooltube WILL help keep temps down and I highly recommend if your wanting to be sure your keeping your cab the coolest you can. A fan inside circulating air will help also, at least it did in my dresser (last grow).

To be honest though, if the the air temp being pulled in is 95 degree's and your keeping your grow room at about that same temp... your exhaust system is working great.. the only thing that would make sense to cool it is a fan inside and a cooltube.

Even if it does get in the mid 90's I wouldn't worry that much... I mean "ideal" conditions are 76 for cab temp and like 68 for Res temp... i think.. but outside in southern climates it averages your cab temps and higher and still produce some of the finest bud. I think so long as your lady has a well balanced diet, plenty of sunshine, and plenty of fresh air- she'll grow just fine.
