yes thats fundamental with all LEDs, its all about heat dissipation. even with super cooled heatsinks, there is still thermal resistance that must be overcome between the diode junction and the case, and then the case and the heatsink. You can play around with the simulators on the manufacturers site, and see the effect of junction temp (Tj) and case temp (Tc)Ok so is one of the reasons they are less efficient because they create more heat when ran harder?
With equal heat removal from the heatsink, more current, is always going to result in a drop of efficacy because its about MOVING that waste heat to the heatsink
