Know nothing about led, what i did know about growing was outdoor. That being said, I want to start out small due too space concerns, but maybe have the lights to expand w/o buying more. My idea is putting a cree gen3 cob (says equal to 1k hid) in a 2x4, it says recommended for 4x4 and a little bigger. Don't think it has an actual dimmer. Can I expect to grow with that and not burn the ladies up in the 2x4? Thanks, and hello all.

How tall is this tent? Do you plan on buying more gear like fans and etc?

7'11" yes, i plan on putting fan(s) on inside and running a 4" ac infinity exhaust fan which will bring thru 68-70 degree air all year. It has to be in a non climate controlled garage, so i am thinking I will have to make an insulated enclosure for the entire tent also.

Next question is how much you are willing to spend on a light. The light is the main factor in growing. Everything else is secondary. Also are you handy enough to build a light? Easy with parts nowadays.

I have looked at the quantum light kits. In my figuring too. Just checked out the timber, looks pretty good. I'm trying to stay below 700 bucks.

Go to the LED lighting thread. Those people are freaks for LED and should have some recommendations for you. Timber is good quality. Buy once and use for years.

What is the actual power draw of the light your looking at? With good quality LEDs the rec is 30 watts per sq ft. IMO you’d be better off buying a light for the space and if you expand buy additional light. You first LED grow in going to be enough of a learning curve without having to worry about light stress and bleaching.

I'm looking hard the Timber 3vl or 4vl. Others have said 3vl would be great for my tent. 320 and 425w
I was thinking the 4vl only because it has four cobs instead of 3, but I'm hearing 3 is fine.

Nice lights. Either one would be great. If it were me I’d got with the 3vl and spend the savings once you get some experience on far red initiators and UV.
