I wonder how many of their followers are trolls, then it is a question of are they being persuaded by what they read the trolls saying. I have the same question with Trump, is he actually a stable genius or is he buying into the same garbage online that every other angry (insert insensitive category) guy over the age of 40 is falling for. I kind of think he more was taking advantage of the online hate groups and fell into a saudi/russian trap. I think that could be the same for what we saw in 2018.

I admire their enthusiasm in really bringing to the forefront issues that desperately need immediate attention, such as income equality and a fair wage and the necessity of converting to a Green energy program.

So either he had no clue and stumbled into everything and won the highest office in the land, or he put together a long term plan that ended up with him in the Oval Office. Could be somewhere in between, I tend to think he started courting the racists and evangelicals to get a strong backing in the republican base to get his name on a lot of signs and the Russians/Saudis/Cambridge Analytica won it for him with a combination of voter suppression and online trolling campaign designed to break down social discord.

That kind of shit doesn't work unless there is a receptive audience. Trump did not create racism in the US. He used it. The 40% who support him have never stopped supporting him either. Yes, all that propaganda did swing the election but the real reason he won is Trump's racist and misogynistic rhetoric appeals to the racist right.

I'm optimistic for 2020 because even though he won in the EC it was by a minority vote. He might win again but in 2020, nobody can say they were surprised by how bad a president he was afterward. I don't think the propaganda shenanigans will be as effective the next time around.
