Ya the vid example would probably be too big, but You dont need to build it that same size, you can use just about anything to build the box to the size you want, one year we used the small tote boxes and those mini fans . still worked well for adding cool air to a very hot room , it just had to be refilled more frequently lol

I also wouldnt use it inside my tent, i would use it to cool the room the tent is in.

Eg. I should have just thought myself that exhausting into the same room is uh going to keep the temperature in that room hot (stupid me). One shitty thing about being disabled (and sorry small rant coming) is that you get barely enough (if even that) money to get by month to month .. and I need a simple 4" ducting hose to exhaust to attic yet I don't even have $10 to my name, booo.

Yes, exhausting out and away from your room that the tent is in will cut down on heat issues for sure. Might not solve them completely but its the first step towards doing so.

Yep also stoned, never thought of mentioning that before i decided to give you the idea to build the homemade AC lol

I've routed exhaust into my attic and moved my passive intake to take in fresh air from a lower window.

If there's anyone still paying any attention to this thread I will update on what/any changes I see just so any other person is facing the same problems maybe this can be of help.

Before: Delta 7F (room 80F, tent 87F).

This will def help. Obv as temps rise during summer it could still get too hot, but your on the right track.

It's in a pretty small bedroom (no sex sadly). It's temp is about 80 right now, inside tent is 87 at the moment (I hate fahrenheit!!) . We have to use our homes A/C very sparingly because the cost of electricity in my province is just insane (esp. when you count all the electricity I'm already using to run this grow).

At the moment it is exhausting to the same room, I've yet to come up with a solution to remove it effectively, although I did just realize it's easy to get to the attic from where I am so I will try to get some more ducting to move it into the attic if I can.

The intake on the other hand although passive at the moment is ducting that goes outside my window, so it's always drawing in fresh air from the outside at least. Yes I've heard that larger passive intake surface area. I had a smaller in-line fan that was actively intaking but it broke so now it's passive, I dunno really how to open up more vents without letting light in or having a nightmare of ducting lining my room.

I am pretty sure I am just making this up in my head but I feel as though this negative pressure keeps pests mold etc. out because I have never had a grow in the past with none of these problems and feel either lucky or it's the negative pressure or something that I havn't had any of these problems yet (knock on wood).

Are there any small A/C units that are cheapish, don't use a ton of electricity to only cool a small 2x4x5 tent and small enough to fit in there that you can recommend.

I also switched the lights to be on at night where presumably it's cooler and cheaper electricity

Can you pull your intake air from under your house? Do you have a crawl space? That air will be cooler in a lot of instances.

Nah, I'm on the second floor of this home, it would require many many feet of ducting and it would have to be run outside the house (which would look terribly ugly). Worse though is that our basement flooded a little while ago and there is lots of mold and other nasty shit down there so I wouldn't want to be drawing in 'fresh' air from there.

I'm good right now with the passive intake taking air from outside my window, it's fresh air from the outside. The small intake inline fan I had broke so it's all passive right now but when I get some cash I hope to get the intake going with a fan again.

It's hard to tell if the 2 changes I've made had made much of a difference yet because the weather has been pretty cold, plants have gone as cold as 66F during lights off, and I think they are like 78-80F tops during lights on. I need to get another programmable timer so that I can cycle the exhaust fan on and off during lights off cuz I have the feeling it's getting that cold since it's constantly drawing in cold air from the outside, would like to have the exhaust fan go on for like 5 min every half hour during light out.

I also need to buy a good dehumidifier (any suggestions?). I also need a job lol cuz I can't pay for any of this

@Grilledcheese looks interesting, but for $100 that's already nearly the cost of a regulator (actually a regulator is about $80 I think), buying CO2 tanks isn't that pricey, its the regulator and the tanks that are too much for me at the moment. Will try getting tents temps down first, I don't *want* to use CO2, just trying to find ways to deal with hot temps that will give my girls best chance of growing fast and I know their stagnated growth in hot climates is alleviated by increased CO2 concentration so they can photosynthesize more efficiently.
