I understand that, yes absolutely. Always gonna be counterfeit while there's money to be made.
The sheer scale in mass producing products the factories have though, they can charge only pennies an item, and still make huge profit margins. After x amount of years design patents are expired and the same factories making products like the tent i bought, can stick their own labels on and sell it as their own. That's what's happening with most products in Australia tbh, i'd be hard pressed to find fake products at a store. I'd have to try a $2 store, or the local markets. Some tobacconists sell fake Winfields too, but really it's pretty hard to get away with it here.
Not saying it doesn't happen here, because it does, but i'm not sure it's as common.

They ruined Australia's steel and car industry, really it was government selling us out, but it was China putting the pressure on.
Watched an episode of Four Corners about it, and just 1 smelter in China was producing as much steel in one day, as Australia's whole steel industry was in a year.
You're right too, the quality is absolutely shithouse, so much softer.

There is 3 manufacturers of railroad retarders.
They all use the same parts. A Chinese company came in and undercut everyone for the parts. Now all railroad retarders are built with Chinese steel.
Btw retarders in railroad jargon are specially built sections of track that are used to slow and stop individual box cars in a yard.

Not to nit-pick, but it isn't the hardness levels, its the inclusions and lack of consistency. Making shit steel has a long history in China.

You are free to return any material that doesn't meet spec.
Bad castings ate usually found after you machine it. So you will get your money back for the casting. But not the time you put into making it.
And getting someone else to make a casting for you is a 6 month minimum wait

It’s against Afghanistan national law for foreign corporations to do business in Afghanistan. However with an Afghan partner everything is good. This per a new law that took years to get into place. Immediately after it was enacted we learn of a partnership going for gold. Literally. I see us paying Erik Prince and his company to ride shotgun and to protect the mines first and the miners next. But the US government is far more interested in keeping China from making deals to mine rare earth minerals including lithium.
