When I got my 45-gallon grow bag I was worried about 2 things. 1st the pot just didn't seem tall enough and a harvest store near us said his roots shot straight to the bottom of the pot into the ground. 2nd I want to be able to move mine and when I held up the bag I could see light through the material, I knew it would give way if we tried to move it. BTW you have a beautiful piece of property there. I think that's a walnut tree behind you? I have a walnut on my farm also.

Thank you. One of the reasons we use such large pots is to help keep the roots cool. The reason the roots shoot to the bottom of the pot is they are seeking cool earth. The more heat buffer area you can provide for your roots the bigger the roots. We may only have roots growing in the center 300-400gls in a 600gl smart pot, The smaller the pot the less cool root space your plants have. Try a side by side with a larger pot and you will quickly see the difference..;)

some of the greenhouses have permanent end walls and the others we put up end walls as needed. We will put up end walls for light dep and remove them for second crop. We usually grow a spring (light dep) crop and a summer crop. The farms are very remote off grid and the roads get really bad in the winter. The crews all want some time off before starting another year. Once the season starts the crews pretty much are on the job 24/7 for 9 months. They need a break.

I returned all but 2 of the 45gal grow bags & I'm buying the rubber/plastic tubs with rope handles. My husband wants dark color tubs. From what you said it sounds like I should get lighter colors to reflect heat instead of absorb it? Ive got 7 plants total. I'll try 2 in the grow bags & 5 in tubs. I'm sure you're 100% correct so on my next grow I'll buy 100gal grow bags. Where do you buy yours? And if I put a 100gal grow bag onto a heavy-duty sheet of wood, could it I move it with a large dolly or hand truck? Not daily just for occasional circumstances. Thanks in advance for all your help!

Correct, i would paint those pots white to reflect heat. We try to keep the bills-in-the-hills and there is a shop in town that custom makes pots for us any size and they use the same material as smart pots and are cheaper. IMHO smart pots work better in direct contact with earth. We use an old plastic pickup bed liner as a skid for moving large smart pots, you only have to slide them on and off as needed. Best of luck with your grow

Just in case you didn't hear it enough when you returned back to the States.... WELCOME HOME & THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICE!!

You are too new to remember T-dub, but he had an epic kiddie pool grow. A pound plus in a 45 gallon kiddie pool. 10-12 bucks is a good price for a pot that size.

I've got two kiddie pools but they're way too shallow! I ordered ten 45 gallon grow bags but they were poor quality so I returned to them. Was gonna buy rubber tubs with rope handles but most are 22gal. Instead I found a seller who makes good 45gal grow bags. Its not 100gal but it'll work this time. Next grow I'll pre-order 100gal grow bags in advance! Now I'm on to my next adventure of transplant & FIMing!! Kind of scary!
