First Grow

So far I've had issues keeping the humidity in check after the lights shut off during the day if I run my dehumidifier outside of the tent near the air intake it seems to help a bit but if i dont run it humidity falls between 60 and 70 with the dehumidifier running humidity falls between 48 and 60 depending on when I watered last and how manny plants I watered. I'm thinking for the next grow I'll upgrade my ventilation system I'm only using a 4" fan and filter. Also my air intake is only a 4" and has a furnace filter stuck in it so I think that's also causing a lot of vacuum inside of the tent as the sides suck in a good bit with the filter in.
I have two small fans going below the canopy as well.

The intake is at the top of my tent and the exhaust is also in the same location but blowing in opposite direction of the intake the intake pipe also runs down the inside wall of the tent. So I'm also thinking that may add to the restriction I will post pics later tonight when the lights come back on!

Ok I will give that a try my initial thought was that it would give better air flow if it was all the way to the floor
If you had more fan power, that would be ideal, but longer ducting causes lost of pressure, and so minimizing the length and number of bends helps the overall system tremendously, and might be the easiest fix for now! Think about optimizing your outflow ducting too, if needed. Just as long as your intake air is still mixing around the tent before the outflow filter sucks it out, you're golden! Smoke a doobie and hold the joint below/between the intake/outtake, and see if the smokes circulation is good :eyesmoke:

Thank you I must give most of my credit to Colorado high grower. His tips on watering and what to look for for cal mag issues have saved me quite a bit of trouble. Hopefully the shorter intake pipe will help out with humidity. I cut it this morning before work.
Glad to help man! Happy things are working out right for you!

I will try the joint trick gives me an excuse to smoke and spend time with the plants lol I have a bit more I can give the fan speed on the controller. I was concerned that speeding it up would not be very effective, because when I turn it up that high it just seemed to suck the sides in more and didn't feel a significant difference on the intake pipe. However when I cut the pipe short this morning it felt like it was drawing more air at the intake and the sides seem less taught.

At any rate I have the dehumidifier to shut off before I get home from work today. I will check humidity then hopefully it's good! Not sure if I mentioned it earlier but the dehumidifier is located below the air intake in the floor.

I was also thinking about possibly adding another intake in the bottom left corner I haven't done this yet because the tent is only about an inch or so from that wall and figured it wouldn't help much being so close to the wall?

Also I'm thinking of getting a good quiet 6" fan for hopefully next grow with a quality 8" filter I read somewhere that it allows more time for smells to be scrubbed if you get an upsized filter. What do you think is a 6" fan sufficient for a 4x4 space?

I'm also hoping to upgrade to a compost tea brewer so I can go fully organic for next run! Going to be growing some master kush, triple cheese and some sort of autoflowering cbd

Nice!! Sounds like a good mix of genetics! If the tent is still showing excess negative pressure, then either adding an extra intake or making the existing one larger will definitely help air exchange overall with existing fan (and negative pressure indicates system is possibly stressing your fan's motor, leading to low efficiency,
and faster wear on motor!). A bigger fan will also help, but will likely require more intake capacity too, so I'd try increasing the intake first and see if that works for controlling humidity. A larger filter on the outflow will help with effectiveness of scrubbing for sure. I noticed your current filter is wide but really short. More surface area=good. How many days in flower? Don't rush it!! :)

Awesome info I will keep that in mind I did add a second intake to it I think it needs a larger intake tho still have some negative pressure but humidity it's much better now! Only day 50 but almost all hairs are orange ~90% and when viewed under 60x the heads are mostly cloudy with a few amber heads. And that's only on the lost cost hash pant. The cbd is a mix between clear and cloudy heads and hairs are about 50% orange. As for the other two they only have a few hairs that have changed color. And I haven't done any viewing under the scope for those two. So I cut the big nugs off the lchp last night and left the lower buds to finish they were significantly less developed. I hope this was not a mistake. Also due to the fact I wasn't expecting to harvest so soon (hso says 60 days for flowering) I missed the flushing. Not sure how big of a deal that is? I read in the grow cannabis bible that flushing can result in a 10% loss in weight for only a 5% increase in quality, if it's not done correctly. So I'm assuming it's not a huge deal at this point I'd rather have 10% more weight.

Also I noticed that most of the lower buds are small is this because I didn't do enough defoliation or is that normal? I did some light defoliation during last week of veg and also in week 4 of flower. I was also wondering if maybe I should have plucked those off early in flower? Would that have allowed the plants to spend more energy on the tops?

On a second look I think most of what I harvested isn't ready I think the hid maybe was giving some of the heads a amber hew and I cant explain where the cloudiness was coming from should I just keep the buds for practice drying and curing? Or will they still contain some thc? Also most of the hairs are orange in color I thought that was a good indicator for harvest? Or am I missing something here?

I like to guage doneness by trichome color/cloudiness. Been fooled into thinking a strain is mature by hair colors a few times in the past, before I got my little scope and learned better.
