First time cloning, desperately need advice

Hello everyone again, i hope you're all having a good weekend! i have been trying to clone for over two months now and they've failed every single time given to the lack of one thing or the other. I managed to clone in water now but I am confused what to do next because I wasnt expecting this. I assumed it would grow root in the water, but it has started to root above the surface of the water while nothing underneath! Should i cut the stem just below the air roots because the steam is very long or wait for it to grow roots at the end of the stem?(i saw a video where a guy suggested taking clone by pinching the branch next to the main stem). I grow in soil so thats where the plants will go next.

The second clone in question has no roots forming yet but I can see white bumps which I'm not sure if its diseased or those are root forming? thanks in advance, i have learned alot from this forum.

Yes, once you have roots, you need to start very light feeding and increasing the light...

roots will start on the bumps soon those are defined callous tissue.
The easiest parts of the plant to clone will always be the green shoots that can break off cleanly.

Use cuttings from as low on the plant as you can. They have less N and that makes them root faster. Cuttings from high on the plant, especially the top. Root slower.
Cut them at an angle. Your exposing more of the area that can root faster.
USE a cloning gel or powder to help get you going.
Low light intensity is best. Use a single bulb CFL that you would put in a lamp....Once rooted, trans to solo cups and put those under stronger lighting. I use T5 HO for early to mid veg.
Keep them warm and get a hood or something over them. 80 - 85 F has given me the best results...

"I" would not...
"I" would also let that root grow out some more, before transplanting to soil.....Let it establish some more first... Use a very light nutrient to keep the cutting healthy.

AH! I see the second picture now.
Yes, about the length of your thumb from the tip to the first knuckle....Make that the length from the root to the cut point.

It isnt rotting but the problem is this stem is too long to bury under the soil all the way up to the top root.

If i understand this correctly, youre telling me to cut 4-5cm below the present roots? should I do that now or wait for more roots to form and just before transplanting it?

Just transplant it
You only learn by trial and error, it is only a clone and you will have way to many as you up your game

Can I transplant with just root bumps or will it have problems? I also dont have a pot deep enough to transplant the first clone so thats why was asking if i can cut the stem 4-5 cm below the roots.

Okay thank you Dr. Who and everyone else! I would rep you all if there was a button but nonetheless this has been a big help and I am very grateful for the quick responses. I'll go ahead and cut the first one up and then transplant them both to soil and hopefully it takes off.
One last question: will i have rot issue if i keep the new transplants under a dome? I don't feel the clones are ready to live outside the dome, and I haven't trained them yet the way people do by slowly opening the air exchange hole in the humidity dome (I made a custom dome from a large transparent kitchen bucket and i didn't have a way to add aeration holes).

I just take mine out once rooted and mist them the first couple days and poof they recover

Let the roots get longer and plant those gals. You have successfully cloned some cuttings.

I am convinced that you have to try and kill a plant to actually kill it. Cut it wherever you want it will be fine. I’d wait til those white bumps make roots but if u don’t wanna wait it will most likely be fine. I still worry about my plants sometimes but I try not to anymore as they are very tough. Point of my post is try not to worry they will be fine. I’ve had all Kinda shit happen to plants and they always turn out fine. Even had someone kick one across the room full on flower in a 1 gallon pot and it was fine.
