How do you deal with all the things that like to eat our plants and all the other elements? I tried outdoors last year first time, single fem seed. Topped for 4 mains, still rotted . Made me chop 2 weekish early so wasn't as good as it would have been. For that reason, I'm doing autos this summer. They're already in cups to get a headstart
One other thing I had a problem with was the watering schedule. Raining too often keeps the medium wet too long..
I live in southern California, right on the edge of the desert. We pretty much don't get rain between May and October, the odd thunderstorm during monsoon season, but overall it's very dry here so rot isn't a concern.
The big issue I deal with is caterpillars during flowering...they burrow into the buds, eat and shit causing them to die and rot...that can easily ruin an entire grow. I haven't had a great solution to that, BT spray works, but you need the caterpillars to be there in the first place. This year, I'm going to grow in a greenhouse that's fully enclosed in a shade cloth mesh, that should keep the moths away. As for other bugs, I don't really have an issue...I haven't seen mites at all, aphids are a non-issue and whiteflies are a small annoyance...if I have an issue, I use insecticidal soap.
To clarify my earlier statement, outdoors is much easier for me, in my climate.
