If you guys knew how to read it would help you understand what my first grow was! Before you bash someone maybe know a bit more first!!!
The point is that you don't need that many watts for one plant, and you shouldn't be proud of .44 gpw.

We've seriously derailed this thread. I think OP's question has been answered.

So i have QBs in my tent but want to get my buddy's feet wet and don't want to pressure him into top tier lights but don't want him to buy the cheapest piece of crap. I would tell him hands down to spend $185 on a 135 watt QB(that's what they were last time i bought one) and he has a good light for 2x2 to 2.5x2.5 or at a minimum a 55 watt autocob for $150(again what they were at last time i looked). Question is have you found a better value around or +/- from those ranges that grew you some killer plants 1-3 or that particular spacing. Thanks.
I agree, used HID kit will be best bang for buck to get feet wet.

Can't go wrong with an autocob for 120$. They are 65 watt now btw. Qb's, and optic 1's are good choices too. But I think the autocob is the best value. I am getting 2g/watt from mine doing auto flowers. I have them documented in the auto flower section.

They are a hidden little gem not talked about much on RIU, not sure why.

$2 per watt for a cob ufo? Doesn't sound like a good deal to me...

Can you show me a better deal that uses the same quality cob and driver ? I cant seem to find one. The only comparable I have found is Optic 1, Mygro, and Mars cob. And they all are more expensive. I cant even build one myself in Canada using same quality parts for cheaper. Efficiency is paramount, and I am sure you will be hard pressed to link me something better for cheaper.

It's a bit more expensive, but another option is the 75 watt 3590/Meanwell from Rapid for $150. It also offers color temp and dimmable options.

600 watt HPS. Done. Regardless of what all the LED guys say there is nothing wrong with HID. It's a proven lighting technology for growing plants and can be had for $150 instead of an $800 LED.

I'm so sick of everyone slamming HPS because they bought some overpriced LED and have to justify it by slamming a lighting technology that has been growing good weed for decades. Go ahead and spend $800 on a light that produces the same results as a $150 HID. I'm growing weed not playing with technology. I'll continue growing fire with my HPS while others are looking at charts, light spectrum's, and focusing on drivers. Plus the money I save by not spending four to five times as much to get the same light intensity will be well spent on single malt scotch.

Now I have to go plant some tomatoes in the garden. Oh by the way, I feed my vegetables the same nutrients I use to grow pot. I also don't pay for bottles of watered down chemicals in fancy bottles with cool sounding names. It's a damn plant. Not rocket science. And it doesn't need the latest doo dads and overpriced technology to grow.

you can get a 315 cmh for a great price, but i would run a 600w hps ..... when its said and done hps is king for flower ... ive ran em both and the 600 better, my next plan is to run them together and do 915w in a 4x4 cab
