questions for the experienced

HELLO ALL... im from tenn. and have never considered growing inside for obvious reasons,great growing season ect. , with that said , im gonna have a indoor grow for the winter.my space is 24x24x52inches tall,small i know. my questions are #1 will a agromax 250 watt mh-metal halide and hps light system do the job #2 AGROMAX makes a hybrid hps mh, dual arc tube , has anyone used them before if so did you like it . i dont know shi* about indoor soil grows, period.. even less about the more exotic means of propagation #3 im still confused about which light for which cycle, ive heard hps can be used throughout, and only for 12-12 any answers or comments will certainly help

Never tried that bulb, but why go to the extra expense? Just get a 250W HPS. You can clone/germ under it as easily as MH.

Save a few bucks.

To answer your question, halide put off more of a blue spectrum, good for veg.

High Pressure Sodium puts off a red good for bloom.

You can easily veg with a hps, but flowering with a halide isn't recommended.

If you haven't purchased anything yet, I recommend a 400W HPS, with a vented hood.

Good luck with your ventures, it's fairly easy, just keep your temps below 85.

thanks for the input , i have another question , what about led lights mixed spectrum looks to me the way to go. htgsupply.com has them and there good for 80-100000hrs of use considering theres only about 8200hrs in a year, from 13 -90 watts the ufo looks like the s**t but the 12x12s are more in my price range

everyne says led's arnt good to grow under but to add additional color to oyur spectrum.and yeah man dont use just an hps i mean you can but there is no reason as there are ballast's that take meta halide and hps and all you need to do is switch the bulb. or as oyu said go with the dual spectrum at least then oyu have a wider spectrum ya know.
and yeah a 400 would be better but a 250 would work.

I ordered a 600 watt hps kit from HTG and the light blew within 13 days, and yes to all those that will say it I did wipe the finger prints off. The reason I'm posting is no matter what you do make sure you have a back up light, or back up plan. I sure wish I had bought the extra bulb. I will say this, HTG sent me a new bulb asap free of charge and then I ordered 2 more just incase. So they treat their customers very well. 600 watts are by far the most popular so they are in high demand so I would follow the advice of MRHOWARDMARX and get the 400 they are always in stock and they get the job done. Here is the set up I got look around they have some good deals I too am on a budget

Home Depot doesn't have 600W bulbs, do they even have 400Wers?

I HAVE bought 400W HPS at Home Depot, but it was years ago. Lowe's is cheaper so these days I just go there. So I can't say for CERTiAN HD still carries them. Lowe's haf them 2 months ago. All my lights are 400W... Never looked for 600 or 1000w's.

Haha, I've never looked for 400Wers...

I do handle my bulbs properly, I do have gloves,I'm not a novice grower, and HTG said they had gotten a bad batch of bulbs and would replace it. I don't know what you are saying about home depot and Lowes, Neither of them carry 600 bulbs, you think your the only one to think of such an easy way? Remember some of us live where there are no "home depots" or " Lowes" and have to shop online. I was simply stating get an extra bulb for the unforseen
