Lighting advice

Thanks all for the info. Think I'm just gonna run my 2 300w cfl with 1 600w hps on the hot days that hopfully should keep my temps down 5°c. I shall experiment. Thanks again.
That's not going to knock your heat down. Its still 1200w. Only difference is 600w is hps which will flower good and 600w is cfl which is in reality shit in comparison.

I would get two air cooled hoods. You can get some good ones for about £40 each , but be careful there are some shite ones for that price too. That will remove 1/3rd of your heat.

Other than that you could go to diyleduk, get 4 of these. https://diyleduk.com/collections/hlg-quantum-boards/products/260w-hlg-quantum-board-kit-dimmable

End of the day you can just increase airflow to the point your not getting any hotter than the air coming in.
99 years out of 100 that's enough to deal with English summers.

One of the best things about HPS is the ability to air cool it without much fuckery.

300w cfl give off 80% less heat than hps so the heat will no be the same I'm going to try it out regardless. It's only for the hot nights. And ain't really got the room for the hoods as only about a foot away at the end of flower from the bulb.

I have 2 6inch in takes and 1 10 inch extractor.

Then there something seriously wrong with your set up mate.
Where's your thermometer taking readings from?
Does your warm air go directly outside?
You in an uninsulated attic?
What is the 10" fan your using?

I used to run more watts with much less extraction , rare that I had to have my fan on full.
I know its a few degrees warmer down south but there isn't that much difference in temps across UK.

Interested to find out where you got the figure 300w cfl is 80% less heat than HPS, assuming you mean of the same wattage?
A cfl is 80% more efficient than an incandescent but HPS is not incandescent, in fact its 2-3 time more efficient than cfl.

Have you conducted experiments which prove this? It goes against physics.

Anyhow, not trying to be a penis here.

But there something not right in your set up , would need answers to above questions and possibly pics to figure it out.

A 600watt hps is a shit heater of air, i have always seen confusion that it is a hot light but thats not very true and the heat isnt the air its the light radiation for which few seem to truly understand the principle :-)

Most hydro shops here have pulled out of led that i know. I simply run lights at night windows open and no problems through heatwaves at Summer :-)
My go to "real" local grow shop - with quality people owning and running it. Have done the same.... No in stock LED lighting....
The other 2 surviving shops.....still try and simply make a buck as the whole basis of operation.

Hell, one used to be owned by a guy that snitched to the ATF on quantity buyers! It was all over the net and people still went there (cheaper then everyone else in town)!

WTF?

One of his employee's bought him out....The place is massive and has about everything on the market there. NO quality info/help, just make a buck.
They have those stupid , expensive, cheesy made, over rated banks that on the box. Make untrue claim's and misleading to out right lie's about their potential..

GR Hydro. 524 Leonard GR MI.... Schmeckels seed their reviews too! Their game plan is to undercut the real shops pricing and take over the market....I refuse to shop there!

Leds ruined a lot of what could have been good but thats a lot of the present industry - time to overgrow without them :-)

If you are a DIY type of person these are completely great,
Ya i love diy but didnt think i had the qualifications to build lighting let alone sign off my work for insurance purposes and gain a two year guarantee on fault or fire like a pre built qc guranteed light.

:-)

Yeah, understand your point. I was surprised how easy this one was to build. For a commercial application better to stick with the big names.
