H.A.F. growing stink-flowers in dirt with QB's

The red arrow was the seed-leaves and shoots, then the next node I just took the shoots. I never found out if the seed-leaves count as node 1, so that next set of sprouts may or may not be node 3. I don't have much height to the stem, so that might factor into me keeping the next higher node whether it is 3 or 4. This time I don't want to rush it. I want there to actually be a node or so on the keepers so there is actually something to tie to

Nice setup.
What lights are you running in the veg room?
The veg room has a 260v2. (2 135 boards basically)
The Flower room is 2 135v2's, bought at different times. 1st was to be a tent-light for clones and seeds.
Now I have a 65w in the tent.
I like having the separate adjustable heights if needed for flowering, plus the I have one ballast going 18/6, but the 2 are only going 12/12. More efficient that way too.

Wow!
65 watts in the flower tent is pretty damn efficient! How close do you get for flowering? 12/12 from seed sounds cool. I've never done it myself, but I know there is a guy here that has done it for a while with great results. He SOGs them, too.

No no no LOL I have a 260 in veg, and 2 separate 135's in flower (basically another 260). I use the tent for domed stuff and younglings with the 65. Since I moved the contest plants to the veg room the tent is shut down and cleaned out. So I have 3 different light set-ups, only 2 are in use right now.

I'll fire it back up when the NL that I am manifolding is big enough to top. I want to see if I can clone that top, then do another true manifold once it gets going - then top it again ;)

Also planning a small SOG with the NL clones just because I haven't done that before. I guess these 4 for the contest are like a super-mini SOG, because I don't plan to do anything to them.

Ok, I see.
How many watts at the wall are you using in flower? What is the footprint? How far away are you running them?

I haven't kept track of actual wattage. It is whatever HLG says it is I guess. I think that HLG names their lights by actual wattage rather than counting LED's like the blurples do. Soooooo if each light is about 135, then I am running 270 in flower, 260 in veg.

I try to keep 18" in veg, but not religiously. If a plant is growing like mad I may raise it once a week. In flower no closer than 12" but between there and 18". That part usually depends on how many plants I have flowering - I just get the tops as level as possible and go for the most even coverage, or raise specific plants as needed to get them closer. I have 3 different flip-dates in the flower room right now with the clones. It's been a juggling act figuring out what should go where, but it's an art, not a science ;)

My only point about the electricity is that regardless of wall-watts, I think running 2 ballasts to get 270w is more expensive than running 1 ballast to get 260. Might be me being dumb, just thinking that having 2 things plugged in will draw more than one. So the room with 12/12 happens to be the one with 2 separate lights. That's all.

I know that growing can be a science, but that also makes it like a job. I have yet to follow a feeding schedule precisely - but I have always used them, I just play it by ear, and make notes on what not to do next time :) I think the contest grow will force me to stick to a schedule for those 4, so that will be fun.

OH! Tell your HLG contact that I would love to have a 320v2 to try instead of the 260 :)
Man I'd just settle to be able to get 4 320v2 kits without paying over $1000 in shipping and taxes -.-

How do you find the 260 though? Been considering buying 4 of the XL heatsink versions instead and down the track swapping the drivers out for 320h and putting a third QB in the middle. Have a 4'x8' area to cover haha.

Got the 260 from Growers Lights. https://growerslights.com/collections/horticulture-lighting-group
I think that demand has beaten supply for HLG just because they are good. My set up is piecemeal because I got what was available at the time and I made it work - or built a grow room around the lights I had LOL.

And for what it's worth it has 11-toed leaves everywhere.

So what do you think the spotting is from ?
Calcium deficiency best I can tell. I was feeding at half strength, or 75%, but I was reducing the cal-mag by that % as well. Not good when using RO water. It's also probably rootbound in the little 2 gallon pot. Whatever it was the lights intensified the effect.

Is this technique considered manifolding or mainlining?
How long do you veg for?
I've heard it called both. It looks like the exhaust manifold off a V-8 is where one nickname came from.

Generally I veg for 4 weeks tops. Building a manifold it takes however long it takes, but last time I think it was about 2 months. I haven't done it the same twice, so it's hard to say.

I don't know if you answered it already, but what height are you running in the flower tent?
Have you gotten light bleach, or deficiencies from the led's?
Where did you get the 260?
