My property manager just found my grow (still in rec count)

They asked if it was medical and for my license, they then took pictures of my grow room, my plants and my license. they asked if I intended to grow more and I said I'd love to grow 6 but would need their written permission then they asked me for the link to the government of Canada application form.

Should I be worried and look for a new place / relocate my plants?
Has anyone dealt with this situation before.

Did you get anything from property mgmt specifically telling you not to grow ?

I wouldn’t worry then. If the cops did get involved. Only thing I could think they might try to hassle you on would be where you got your starting materials........but I doubt it.

There will be in your next lease, you can almost be sure of that. Nova Scotia, particularly HRM, is the worst place in the country for its anti pot rhetoric. They're making it easy for landlords to put a stop to tenants growing their 4 plants, citing "health issues" with mold, smell and sensitivities, fire hazard, blah, blah, blah.

How did he/she find your grow? Were they looking for it or following up on a complaint? Did they give you the proper 24 hrs notice before entering your property?

The did give notice, they were in here for repairs and asked to check in the room. I'm not trying to hide anything so I let them in, she complimented the grow and how clean and professional the set up looked, stated she had no concerns herself but just had to inform the higher ups regardless. We're also not renewing our lease here, HRM doesn't seem anti pot at all, everywhere I've contacted they allow smoking inside properties, including killiam and reality. which i found quite surprising. My building itself has more health issues and concerns that make the news than a few pot plants could ever bring.

Everything but seeds through amazon haha. Plus obviously the seeds just came out of some bad batches of bud ;) Also did you know you can legally trade seeds, you just cant sell them?

Good to hear, I own (rent from the bank) so I dont have to worry. I'm glad that some places are more open to it than most had anticipated. There was a lot of rhetoric in media before legalization, a lot of people voicing displeasure and whatnot. Cheers!!

Media's really got it twisted. People smoke all over town in the smoking sections and people don't even double take. Its even got to the point where employers don't care and bosses are becomming quite open.

I still have some student debt to pay off then Ill be owning my own place soon too. I can't wait to have some outdooor crops for edibles!

Storage purposes I believe is how they have it written in the law.
However what a person does with that object once they're in possession of it is a different story.
You just can purchase them with the intent to grow. Laws make no sense.

LP's have legal shitty seeds now too,

I'd have to be pretty desperate to buy anything from an LP. Like threaten my family kinda desperate.

There's a place on the dark side that has a pretty good selection of seeds. Better prices than most of the seed banks cuz you dont have to pay for shipping.

Need their permission for what? Not for a medical grow. I think that's only for designated growers, not when you grow for yourself.

I'm in the same boat here, went through exactly the same thing, but the person who saw it didn't report it. When pot was legalized, they sent out an ammendment to our lease (everyone in the building) saying you cannot smoke cannabis or grow it anywhere in the building, including your own apartment. They did say that the exception was those covered under the Ontario Human Rights code (medical users) but you had to contact them before starting.... Well, I'm way past just starting, and just keeping my mouth shut.

If you don't own the property you grow on you're required to get written permission in canada through the form on the government website. If you are growing above the rec limit without the paperwork filled out by the land owner you're technically breaking the law.

I'd be more pissed at the property managers asking about medical and taking pictures. You were within the rec rules - they had no reason to violate your medical privacy. It is probably against the law, but definitely unethical. I'd be demanding the pictures be destroyed or you sue.
