I have seen a few live blowdowns that would do to hide a plant in. Actually there will be enough sun in what was the big woods to grow in now. But nothing will be easy. You can't just walk through the woods. You have to climb over or under trees every few feet. I'm not sure I could carry two buckets of water and squeeze through some of the shit.ever think about planting right in the blowdown
If I make a crop this year, it will truly be Darwin Dope.

looks perfect just lop out a few spots in the middle,when they clear cut land up here all the stumps an shit get bulldozed into big piles.i grew in those piles for yrs right out in the open.who would ever think someone was crazy enough to grow in blow downs

over the yrs I have found those make some of the best plants.I don't know about New York but here in Portland I already have volunteers popping up all over. That's what happens when you toss your trimmings from a seed grow into your garden. I guess I missed a few seeds.

Yeah I'm going to put them in some pots and let them grow. They can't stay where I'm planting my tomatoes this year. I also wonder why so many people go through all the steps they do to germinate seeds. These sat on the ground most of the winter and sprouted on their own without paper towels or fairy dust.

Folks pay so much for seeds they feel the need to be there for every aspect of the germination. Year before last I did a seed test in October. They were fresh out of the buds, and didn't do well at all. The tray of dirt stayed out in the garden, and I noticed a sprout in February. I forget now what it was, but I called it my too early and too late plant. I think I crossed it with BOG's Boggle Gum. I let it go until it started to re-veg.

I would not recommend you put out plants in early April in NY. Possible frost. Possible bolt to flower if they even live (larf city). Then they'll try to reveg and you'll have a clusterfuck of a grow going.
Not many other green plants to hide them. Deer will feast on them, because there's not much else that's green yet.
Sometime in May or even early June depending on where in NY you are is a better plan.

I don't know where you live in N.Y. but as previously stated I live in southern Ontario probably about an hour and half drive from the New York border. It rained here all day Saturday and woke up to a couple of inches of snow on sunday morning. April is way to early!!! I live near the escarpment which creates its own little micro climate and I have never put out a plant till the may long weekend. We are into April now just be patient

I will be throwing 10 outside later this week. Started a few too many and won’t be all too upset if they don’t survive. I will take a few measures to help aid their survival but not much. Most are on their 3rd true set and some high stress straining. I will post the results when they’re dead or in the clear.

Lost 200 hundred plants I put out on May 15th one year

Have you got a source for that info? I have tried looking it up but haven't been able to find it.
I started plants in April last year. They did great! The seeds will also germinate naturally at about the same time. I had a seed pop naturally back in March, but the frost got it, when the jar I had over it was knocked over. Otherwise it would have done fine. I would think that California weather would be better than Kentucky weather for pot. 37*N here. Could this be the difference?
I think where I have drawn that conclusion is just from reading peoples comments on here in regards to plant problems and questions usually in regards to a winter season grow at a lower latitude then myself like California. Full disclosure I have only 4 seasons under my belt so I still have much to learn, this website forums has been a great resource for me in efforts to more understand the life cycles of marijuana plants.
I start my plants in April as well however I do it inside under a t4 grow light and they will go out about a month later (they outgrow my indoor grow space). My challenge where I live is getting the plants into flower asap as when the end of September rolls around while its very mild it can be quite damp which leads to grey mold issues. This season I will grow a few more auto flowers and a couple of plants that are supposed to be quick finishers (dinafem).

I have just 3 plants that are a little over a month old. Still inside under lights. I haven't started anything other than those... just trying to get a bit more growth while vegging.
It is about time to spread some "Johnny Potseed" seeds. Maybe get a wild strain started

I'm at 49N on the west coast. I am popping seeds in the greenhouse right now. All autoflowers. (Should be supplimenting light, but too lazy)
Like to get two crops in. So I start a little early with first crop, and run a little late with second crop.

Just to see what would happen, I went ahead and put a plant out. It has been out for a week, and the temperature has dropped to the lower 40's(Fahrenheit) at night, but mostly in the lower 50's. I have a couple extra seeds of Barney's Red Diesel that I could start over again with, so I decided to see what would happen.
We still have a couple of low temperature nights to go, but no frost is expected. We shall see....
