Hash from bud

had a conversation with someone the other day briefly. He said he doesn’t smoke buds after harvest because he goes straight to making hash with it once it’s dried.

He claims there is no reason to wait because all the active ingredients are in the trichomes which are only on the exterior of the flower. Is that 100% true? Are there no psychoactive components inside the actual plant material?

I totally get the trichomes and what they do and contain. But some part of me always thought that the actual plant material (flower/bud) had some of the same chemical components inside as well.

If the plant material is just a carrier for the trichomes, what is the point in going for just bud and not harvesting the trichomes right off the bat and eliminate the waste?

What do you mean what is the point going just for bud and not just harvest the trichomes instead?

The trichomes grow on the bud so the bud must be grown to get the trichs.
Harvesting trichs is basically what making hash or oil is.

I dont understand your question.

Sorry for the confusion.

The person I was talking with said he does not smoke bud/flower or even utilize it. All he does is grow and harvest his plants to make hash straight away.

He said his reasoning for that was that there is nothing inside the plant material that is psychoactive, only the external trichome growth. Also said that the dispensaries push buds/flowers because it gets them more money by weight.

My question is whether or not that is 100% accurate. Is there no psychoactive chemicals inside the flower or plant material? (Not talking trichomes here).
Edit: if you take all the trichomes off the buds and flowers, smoked the bud without trichomes, any effect?

Well... in my experience you cant get "all" the trichs off the bud. Maybe all the trich heads, but the trich stems often stay attached to the flower.

As for the more money by weight argument... i dunno about that. Given that hash or oil prices are based off the price of flower that argument doesnt make sense.

IE: where i am if flowers are 10 bux a gram then your run of the mill hash made from flower trim is about the same. If its full melt bubble hash its about 30 bux a gram because the yield from flower is much less and the hash is high quality. And so on.

Hash and oil prices are based off what flower sells for in your area and quality. Its relative.

All the terpenes and cannabinoids are produced in the trichomes so you are correct in the rest of the bud having no medicinal value.
