so ive been pokein around a bit and find that the median income of a plumber is 35,500, so if you own a bisness and it makes 250,000 a year thats great so pay your employee's pay for materials, pay insurance than how much did joe make, theirs a big differance between joe's income and his buissness revenue how does joe make 250,000 can someone explain this and what about the tax cuts he gets for hireing us citizens?????

Joe's not a licensed plumber. He made about $40k in 2006. His first name isn't Joe. He hasn't paid his taxes and there's a lien on his property until he does. He thinks McCain's economic plan would cut his taxes more than Obama's (and he's wrong about that). He doesn't have the money to buy a $250k business -- the last time he even spoke about it with his employer was years ago.

The 'Joe' that McCain spoke of doesn't actually exist.

so hypatheticaly if joes biz did make 250,000 tha would still be his biz not him right and if he himself did make 250k im not sure how he couldn't afford taxes, i make 60k a year and live quite well, is it just greed, i think mccain sees it like if the big guy get tax breaks they can hire joe sixpack but if you tax the big guy and give em incentive to hire citizens its the citizens who in turn will take the tax cut and spend it on taxed goods isn't that whats better for the economy. things that make ya go hmmmm... oh yea im a freakin stoner im not a great debater but im trying to understand this world. and twisty your plumber frnds discus their finances with you??? the 75th%ile plumber makes 44,000 a year so there doin pretty well

Apparently Joe does exist. The way I see it, it just shows how out of touch McCain is. No one is going to believe that a 2 person plumbing operation is going to net over $250,000.00. My brother in law is a licensed plumber and with the downturn in the housing market he is lucky to work 40 hours, others have been laid off. It takes $5000.00 a week for that income, please don't insult our intelligence. The McCain people thought they had stumbled on to something useful, in a way they did, a little humor could go a long way and may show that he finally gets it. VV

i think joe the plumber is sybolic to those who are right in between 200,000 and 300,000 tax bracket..... the idea is that people in small bussinesses who make it over 250 thousand will struggle under obama's plan in this new economic era.... and that the monsterous corporations willl crush the smaller biznesses that are progressing beyond 250..... of course the bigger corps will get taxed more under obama.... its more about the those people than joe the plumber.....i like joe sixpack better anyway..lol

i dont know... but around here, $250,000 is a small business... LOL that's a small business even if you're earning $250,000 a month.

i mean blue collar bussinesses...like contactors, electricians, pool installers,etc... when your in constuction....you have the ability to start your own company..... i used to do electrical work freelance...not my own bussiness...but me and this other guy made descent money....asking around, doing drywall, wiring, painting....and whatever people needed.... figurativly that is who joe the plumber is.... or what he embodies..... hes the epitomy of these contracters..... most of them i believe make 200 thousand atleast a year.....

see thats where it gets tricky ppl think 250k a year sounds like a lot but if your living in a 500,000 a year apartment in Manhattan with 2 kids then your screwed cause your makin 250k and you need it to compete with the high cost of living in the big city so should we not base the taxes on a percentage of the cost of living in your area, im in the middle of nowhere 250k would buy my town so i could afford the tax but suzy cockernutter that lives in the city may not be able to so lumping everyone together at that 250k mark really is'nt good for everyone is it

shit right now in the housing market your lucky to make 100 thousand the way morgages are now..... not every company makes that much profit..... uknow 90% of biznesses go out of bizness..... for sure id take 200k ayear... a bet if u did a study you might be able to find out the mean profit of a blue collor contracter.....

the so-called financial experts were saying that businesses could not borrow money to make payroll because of this mess....but if you are having to borrow money to make payroll you have bigger problems than just the economy....

welll i think people are getting confused here.... of coarse biznesses make alot more than 250k usaully..but were talking about profits..... dont forget all the tools and material and especially the workers you employ... minus that from the money you make and you get the companies income..... the normal person dosnt own a biz.... so when they file the dont tend use the other option..... of claiming expenses.... for instance my bro is an actor..... he saves all his reciept and such that involve acting like props, videos, and showcase expenses..... Me i do my taxes the ohter way using my employer wk's...... any way my point is that for a company to make more than 250k they are making a sufficent profit.... and not all are gonna make that much... barack helps these lower profit companies by givin them a tax incentive of 3k for new employment.... kinda like claiming a dependent.....
