My daughter and I suspected it. During the interview on ABC, he just sounded completely fake.

And then they showed the pictures of him right after the alleged crime and there was no rope burn, no bruising, no swelling, no nothing.

I've fought off two (actually 3) attackers. It looked like I fought the defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

That guy looked like he had an accident with a Bic razor at best.

But no rope burn when two large men wrapped a lariot around your neck?

Yeah. Pure bullshit. I doubt highly the cops ever bought that story from the outset.

That's pretty stupid.

The fact that he knew the brothers and that one was actually an extra on the show in a scene with him just weeks before and yet somehow he couldn't describe the "attackers" means nothing to you?

The guy is a complete fraud. He's an unknown actor nobody cares about that figured he would boost his visibility and become a household name that would lead to bigger parts and a real career.

He's everything that's wrong with people. Thanks to complete frauds like him, people who are legitimately attacked get looked at with suspicion.

They should jail his ass.

So, the story goes that the perps -- who were caught on video doing the crime and clearly linked to the physical evidence via sales receipts for the rope used in the crime -- claim that Smollet paid them. Right wingers jump at this as if it were fact.

Buried in the article is a statement that summarizes all that we can say we know for certain:

A Chicago Police Department spokesperson said "detectives have additional investigative work to complete."

The average American, I will bet you this morning, does not think that this crime is implausible or fake, does not think that we are safer. People feel more threatened by violent radicalized MAGA hat nazis. As a political follower, I'll go with what people feel rather than the actual facts.

Actually, you're the only one I've seen that don't.

Police wanted a simple follow up interview with Jussie and he lawyered up and is refusing to talk.

He's going to be charged with filing a false report at the very least.

He can kiss what little of a career he had goodbye.

well no one feels as if a bunch of maga hat nazis beating someone just for being black is implausible because we all have eyes

it sounded pretty sketchy, but for me what made it questionable, was the bleach..they would've used acid if it were real.

bleach makes no sense as a hate crime tool.

you are innocent until proven guilty though.

i believe he believes the police, but he is probably just confused, like dr. christine blasey ford was just confused. and that is all this boils down to.

i have seen the maga hat nazis do massacres inside of synagogues because trump told them the jews were paying mexicans to invade the southern border.

i have seen the maga hat nazis do the biggest political terrorism act ever by mailing bombs to every single person donald has targeted on twitter

there is no reason not to believe maga hat nazis are out there beating and killing people just for being black

Urbanski belonged to a Facebook group called Alt Reich: Nation, where members share white supremacist memes.
