Just think it would be nice if the breeders listed and the banks published in the listings when the seeds were made. Bud-wise-rrrrrrrrrrr does so with beer! What if growers demanded it? Some would rather have 3 month old seeds than 5 year (60 month) old seed. Might be a factor to consider when choosing strains or breeders.

I get what your saying, but storage conditions are more important to me than a born on date. Look at Bodhi, tons of his stuff is years old before we get our hands on it, but he stores them correctly and I rarely hear of a germ problem.

I would go one better and add a dot on the package that changes color if the pack goes through temp spikes that could damage viability.

The care and storage would also be something that could be much more known. More product knowledge in any purchase is a plus for the buyer. Some breeders are very sophisticated in seed storage etc.

How about if seeds really are F1s or what not.

I have seen people demand to see a breeders flower room. I have never seen anyone demand to see a breeders storage area!

As far as strain info, It seems like its all about the name attached now, which I understand, but it seems like a narrow genetic pool is resulting from this practice. Everything is a variant of Chem, OG, GG4 or Cookies it seems like. I miss the days when every thing you looked at was something different.

Or the day the seeds get chucked from the dry flowers?

I think it’s a great idea but also would only be worthwhile if you trust the breeder to put the right legit date on them.
Personally I’d rather know how many females were used to give a better expectation of the variety you could expect.
As with a lot of things it really comes down to trust in a breeder and letting the products speak for themselves.
The industry has a way of sorting out the bad guys imo

In a quasi legal world competition may just “weed” out the dishonest representations. A breeder could eventually be sued for false statements. The fear of losing everything in court keeps a lot of businesses from fuckig customers over.

Market innovations that serve customers, often result in an entire "industry" moving toward the positive innovation, without any top down regulation. It's another reason free markets are superior to not free / regulated markets.

If a supplier doesn't keep up with the innovations, they get left behind, just like the pot dealers selling 1970s type sticks and stems bags of weed got left behind.
